PUBLIC MEETING

7.30 – 9.00pm, Thursday 21st November

Rydon School Hall

Rock Road, Storrington, RH20 3AA

Following an agreement to join with Storrington and Sullington Parish Council to draft a Neighbourhood Plan, Washington Councillors would like to invite you to a Public Meeting on 21st November. This will be an opportuntiy for you to get involved in shaping the future of your community and to have a say in how it develops over the next ten or fifteen years. Councillors are looking for volunteers to join Focus Groups who will be considerding issues such as planning, infrastructure, transport, accessibility, community facilities, economy and local business, the environment, heritage and local knowledge. Councillors from Washington Parish and Storrington and Sullington Parish, along with representatives from Action in rural Sussex will be on hand to explain the process of drafting a plan and answer your questions. Refreshements will be provided.

Housing Need Survey in Washington Parish

Councillors hope to be able to provide a questionnaire with this newsletter, but at the time of going to press, copies were not confirmed as available. Every household in the parish will be receiving a Housing Needs Survey; this is a short questionnaire designed to assess the housing needs within the parish. This survey is being carried out by Action in Rural Sussex, a charity working to address issues affecting rural communities, in partnership with Horsham District Council and Washington Parish Council. If a copy of the survey is not included with this newsletter, please be assured, it will be delivered to you shortly.

The Survey is designed to assess both the need for new housing in both Washington and Heath Common wards and residents opinions on where any new housing could be built. New housing could include affordable homes,

small market homes for first-time buyers or for residents who wish to downsize, bungalows for the elderly, or larger homes for growing families– tell us what you think we need.

The results will help the Parish Council formulate its Neighbourhood Plan and shape the long term future of the community. The Parish Council believes that it is better to take an active role in planning our future than sitting back and waiting for development to come to us.

If you know of someone who used to live locally, has moved away but would like to return then this survey is also for them as they have a local connection and could therefore be eligible for any housing that may be provided in the future.

For more information on the Survey or about rural housing generally please contact Tom Warder, Rural Housing Enabler at Action in rural Sussex, Tel : 01273 407 302, E-mail:
