Job Description

Wasco Switches and Sensors, located in Santa Maria, California, is looking for a qualified candidate for the position ofIndustrialor ManufacturingEngineering Intern.This is not a lame internship where you make coffee and sort paperwork! It is completely cross disciplinary, and you WILL be utilized and challenged to your full potential.The successful candidate will assist in developing lean culture and implementation of lean tools in root cause problem solving.

Education Requirements

  • Minimum of three years progression towards aBachelor of Science (BS) degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering.

Qualification/Experience Requirements

  • Ability to collect and analyze time study data to implement improvements to production flow and process.
  • Expertise in identifying the 7 forms of waste and methods to eliminate them.
  • Basic Computer Networking skills and Microsoft Office proficient
  • Ability to interpret and apply engineeringdrawings and specifications
  • Solid Modelling experience (Autodesk Inventorpreferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including the useof cell functions (VBA experience is a plus)
  • Familiarity with Machining Basics includingmanual and CNC lathes and mills
  • Fluent in English
  • Effective communication skills; both verbal and written

Principle responsibilities include but are notlimited to

  • Lean tools implementation
  • Utilize Problem Solving A3
  • Develop visual management facility wide
  • Production Line Design
  • Ergonomics
  • Implement data collection strategies into theproduction environment
  • Work interactively across several disciplines(engineering/quality/projectmanagement/manufacturing) to resolve projectrelated issues expediently to supportdevelopment and manufacturing schedules
  • Assist in determining root cause analysis andcorrective action investigation formanufacturing problems

Compensation Details

Wages for Industrial or Manufacturing Engineer Intern is $15.00/hour.
