WarrenConsolidated School of Performing Arts

2014-2015 Student Rules and Guidelines

*Please Note: In addition to the following guidelines, all WCS rules and regulations pertaining to student conduct will be strictly enforced. Failure to follow rules may result in loss of credit, detention time, lack of participation, and/or other administrative actions. All WCSPA students are subject to the rules of SHHS while participating in WCSPA classes. All rules pertain to activities during school, after school as well as class trips.

Class Times:Level 1 7:05-8:50 PLC (Friday): 7:05-8:50

Levels 2-4 12:30-2:15 PLC (Friday): 8:35-10:20

Rules:

1.)Promptness is a professional obligation. Students are expected to report to class on time. Attendance is taken at the beginning of each class. If you are tardy to class, check in with Mr. Osenberg before going to your first teacher of the day. Excessive tardiness may lead to detentions and/or a lack of classroom participation. Detention referrals are handled by administration and are served at the student’s “home” school.

2.)All absences must be reported to the Performing Arts Office in addition to the student’s home school. Call (586-825-2525) and then press “3” to report an absence. Leave the student’s name and the reason for the absence if you get a recording.

3.)Each student is responsible for reporting to their bus on time. Failure to show for your bus may result in the stop being dropped from the route. For all transportation issues call (586) 825-2960.

4.)Students must come prepared for class each and every day. Preparation includes having appropriate writing tools, paper, notebooks, handouts, scripts, music, dance clothing, shop clothes, and appropriate shoes. Students that do not dress appropriately for class will not be able to participate; failure to participate in class will impact student grading.

5.)Each student is responsible for their own belongings. All coats, books, and personal possessions are to be kept in their locker at all times. Neither WCSPA nor SHHS is responsible for lost or stolen articles. All lockers and locks are the property of the school and can be searched at any point.

6.)With the exception of water, food and drinks are not permitted in any area of the Performing ArtsCenter or any of the WCSPA rooms. Students can eat in the SHHS hallway.

7.)Open-toed shoes are not permitted in the scene shop, costume shop or onstage.

8.)Students are not to create their own Facebook pages, Twitter Accounts, Blogs, Webpages or any other Social Media content focusing around and/or using the name of WCSPA in any manner.

9.)WCSPA has multiple Facebook pages (a regular site, one for the scene shop and one for the costume shop.) We also have a Shutterfly site where we store our photos. All activity on these sites is monitored by WCSPA staff. Students and parents wishing to share items of interest may see a staff member for further information, and all content must be approved by and “shared” by staff only.

10.) Students struggling academically may be restricted from participating in WCSPA activities outside of class.

11.) Students are expected to follow the three R’s: Respect, Responsibility, and Reliability. Failure to follow the three “R’s”, including adherence to classroom rules and regulations, student attitude and effort, and treatment of fellow students and staff will all be reflected in citizenship grading.
