Warm-ups weeks 6 & 7

Over the weekend I went to Galveston again. This time I went to a gumbo stroll. It was a lot of fun. On Sunday though, we took a tour of the Strand district by Segway! It was a blast! I had never ridden a Segway before! I imagine it was something like a Hoover board. Not sure how fast a Hoover board goes but these Segways zipped along! My biggest problem was that you ride them in the streets a lot and I could not hear cars behind me. Our tour focused on the architecture and the history of the island, but there are other tours as well (such as the ghost tour). Have you ever ridden a Segway? What about a Hoover board? Would you ride one if you had the opportunity? If anyone has ridden both, I’d love to hear your comparison of the two.

Do you have a bucket list (A list of things you really want to do)? One of the things on my bucket list is to attend Mardi Gras. To be honest, although I want to go, I am somewhat concerned about going because Mardi Gras has a reputation for being rowdy. But I’ve decided to go this year. I will be going to the Galveston Mardi Gras, not the New Orleans celebration. Have you ever been to a Mardi Gras celebration? If so, where? Do you have any advice for a first timer? If you have never been, would you ever consider going?

I used to think that I wanted to try ziplining. A few years back, I actually got my chance to try it in the Smokey Mountains, but I chickened out! NOPE! I am not brave enough!! What about you? Would you zipline if given the chance? Would it matter how high up it was? Would it matter what terrain you were ziplining over?

Week 7

Monday, October 09, 2017

This weekend I knocked another thing (kind of) off my bucket list. I’ve always wanted to do a corn maze… wander through it and try to find your way out. So I found a corn maze down in Alvin and I went and tried it out. The corn was barely taller than me and the field was not THAT large, so it was kind of hard to get lost in there! Plus it was still really hot… and inside all those corn stalks it was even hotter! (no breeze at all!) I think if I want to truly know what a corn maze is like, I’m going to have to go up north where the corn grows extremely tall. So I’m curious… have you ever experienced a corn maze and if so where? Is it something you would ever consider doing? What about at night? Would you consider doing it at night?

Do you believe in ghosts? Would you ever visit a location that is said to be haunted? I have heard tell of various hotels and roads that are said to be haunted… there are even ghost tours that are held in Galveston and even some in Houston. Ghost tours don’t actually “hunt” for ghosts, instead they are usually walking tours that focus on the history and spooky legends of the area. I might be brave enough to do a ghost tour, but I don’t know about just driving down a haunted road…what about you?

No warm-up… PSAT

Friday, October 13, 2017

Wow! Friday the 13th snuck up on me! I had no idea today was going to be the 13th! So… are you superstitious? How is your day going so far? Do you notice anything different or does it feel like a normal Friday?

This concludes this set of warm-ups. Upload to Schoology. You will start a new document on Monday.
