As the chairman of the 2012 Wado Karate Championships organising committee, I would like to invite you to this years event. The competition will take place on Sunday 18th November 2012 at Yate Leisure Centre.

Please find enclosed:-

1. Information sheets (Please note rule 4 ‘Coaches’ on the information sheet)

2. An entry form

All entries must be received with the full entry fee by Friday 9TH November 2012 at the latest. (No faxed or e-mailed entries will be considered). Please ensure that all contestants are entered and that they comply with the grade and age criteria. Changes cannot be accepted after Friday 9th November 2012. NO refunds will be given.

Each club is requested to send as many referee’s, judges and table officials as possible, without whose participation obviously the event wouldn’t happen, so please accept our thanks and we hope we can rely on your support.

To ensure we can start promptly at 9am, we would ask that all officials have arrived by 8:30am. All contestants aged 8-14yrs must be available to start at 9am, junior kumite contestants, 15-17yrs must be available to start at 11am, all other categories must be available to start at 12pm.

It is hoped that you will support this event and we look forward to seeing you there. If you require any other information please do not hesitate to contact us.

3. EVENT CATEGORIES:-

Categories may be subject to change according to the age and/or number of entrants at the discretion of the chief referee. Every effort will be made to inform all those affected.

4. PRESENTATIONS:-

All events: presentations for first, second & third places.

5. OFFICIALS:

Each club is requested to send at least one official to help run the competition, either a kumite referee, judge and/or a kata judge.

ALL OFFICIALS MUST WEAR THE OFFICIALS UNIFORM as follows:-

A single breasted navy-blue blazer bearing two silver buttons. A white shirt. An official tie worn without a tie pin. Plain light grey trousers without turn-ups. Unpatterned dark blue or black socks and black shoes for use of the mats.

Officials are not to remove their blazer without the chief referee’s permission.

6. COACHES:

Coaches shall at all times during the tournament wear a tracksuit. Coaches are not allowed onto the area or between the areas. Coaches must be seated on the spectator side of the area. A maximum of one coach per team or individual.

INFORMATION FOR ALL CONTESTANTS

ALL CONTESTANTS MUST BE AWARE OF THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS. CONTESTANTS FAILING TO COMPLY WITH THESE REQUIREMENTS WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.

8. ALL CONTESTANTS MUST PRACTICE A WADO BASED STYLE OF KARATE (ONLY WADO STYLE KATA’S ARE PERMITTED).

9. ALL CONTESTANTS MUST HAVE A CURRENT E.K.F OR S.K.B LICENCE WHICH WILL BE CHECKED ON THE DAY.

10. ALL CONTESTANTS MUST WEAR A WHITE UNMARKED KARATE GI WITH NO MORE THAN TWO BADGES.

11. GLASSES ARE FORBIDDEN.

12. THE USE OF BANDAGES OR BRACES BECAUSE OF INJURY MUST BE APPROVED BY THE CHIEF REFEREE IN CONSULTATION WITH THE TOURNAMENT DOCTOR.

13. WOMEN KUMITE CONTESTANTS ARE ALLOWED TO WEAR CHEST PROTECTORS AND A PLAIN WHITE T-SHIRT BENEATH THEIR GI JACKET.

14. ALL CONTESTANTS MUST HAVE SHORT FINGER / TOE NAILS.

15. ALL CONTESTANTS MUST HAVE CLEAN HAIR, CUT TO LENGTH THAT DOES NOT OBSTRUCT SMOOTH BOUT CONDUCT.

16. HEADBANDS ARE NOT ALLOWED.

17. CONTESTANTS MUST NOT WEAR ANY METALLIC OR OTHER OBJECTS (HAIR SLIDES, METAL HAIR GRIPS, RINGS ETC…).

18. THE WEARING OF ANY UNAUTHORISED CLOTHING OR EQUIPMENT IS FORBIDDEN.

19. CONTESTANTS MUST REMAIN IN THEIR GI FOR ALL PRESENTATIONS.

CONTESTANTS MUST NOT WEAR TRACKSUITS ON THE COMPETITION AREA OR FOR PRESENTATIONS.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR KUMITE CONTESTANTS

14. ALL KUMITE CONTESTANTS MUST WEAR A GUM-SHIELD.

15. ALL KUMITE CONTESTANTS MUST SUPPLY THEIR OWN WKF RED OR BLUE MITTS.

16. BOXES ARE ALLOWED.

17. DURATION OF BOUTS, WILL BE 2 MINUTES FOR BOTH MEN AND WOMEN 16 YRS AND ABOVE. CHILDREN WILL BE 1.5 MINUTES.

18. ALL CONTESTANTS TO BRING THEIR OWN RED & BLUE BELTS.

19. THE COMPETITION WILL BE BASED ON WKF RULES (WITH SOME MODIFICATION).

20. LICENCES WILL BE CHECKED ON THE DAY FOR VALIDATION DATE & CORRECT GRADES.
