Scholarship Application Requirements

2017

The Wade Busby Memorial was formed in 2005 in memory of Wade Busby, an avid supporter of the 4-H and FFA programs. In honor of his memory, the Wade Busby Memorial continues to support youth involved in agricultural activities through their participation in either FFA or 4-H. We will issue up to 10 - $1,000 scholarships to graduates of qualifying area high schools.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

1. The applicant must be currently enrolled in FFA or 4H.

2. The applicant must have participated in the Guadalupe County Youth Show, LaVernia Junior Livestock Show or Comal County Junior Livestock Show for a minimum of 2 years.

3. The applicant must have an overall ‘B’ average.

4. The applicant must graduate from high school prior to June 30, 2017.

5. The applicant must continue his/her education beyond high school and provide a copy of his/her registration with the higher education institution to the Wade Busby Memorial.

SELECTION CRITERIA

1. The applicant must submit a completed Wade Busby Memorial Scholarship Application form.

2. The applicant must complete a Personal Statement essay that is typed and a minimum of 400 words. The Personal Statement must detail how the applicant’s participation in 4-H or FFA made a difference in his/her life and also state why he/she should be considered for this scholarship.

3. The applicant must provide the Wade Busby Memorial Scholarship Recommendation / Evaluation Form to his/her FFA or 4-H Advisor. The Advisor must complete and submit this form to the school’s Counselor’s Office.

DEADLINE

Application, Personal Statement, and Advisor’s Recommendation must be received by the school’s Counselor’s Office no later than the end of the school day on February 28, 2017. Failure to meet any selection criteria will result in the disqualification of the applicant from the selection process.
