Job Summary: / Playing a key role in the delivery and co-ordination of 42nd Street’s trauma and resilience project, the post holder’s role falls into two areas of work
1.Working directly with a case load of young people aged 11-25 years, offering them evidence-based trauma therapy, aligned with NICE guidelines and standards of practice; supporting effective referral and screening processes, working collaboratively with internal service managers and the Resilience Hub set up in response to the MEN arena attack.
2. Co-ordinating the delivery of bespoke, culturally sensitive, community led, trauma and resilience training and support across Greater Manchester in partnership with trauma clinicians and community groups/services/organisations.
Specifically the post holder will be responsible for:
·  Acting as a trauma practitioner within 42nd Street and in collaboration with other organisations across Greater Manchester, in line with agreed service standards and working to best practice
·  Participation in referral screening processes.
·  Assessment of the suitability of young people for trauma support within 42nd Street.
·  Supporting the integration of evidence based therapy and other modalities available for young people and communities to build resilience and reduce the impact of trauma for young people.
·  Contribution to the learning and development of trauma interventions with the wider staff team and partners across Greater Manchester.
·  Working with colleagues internally and externally to identify community groups/organisations across Greater Manchester and co-ordinating the co-design, co-delivery and evaluation of trauma and resilience training and support
·  Contributing to the evaluation of this project in line with donor requirements and to inform future practice

KEY TASKS:

1.0  Specific to the post holder

1.0 CLINICAL

1.1. Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service, with specific pathways identified with the Greater Manchester Resilience Hub and from community groups across Greater Manchester.

1.2. Assess young people for suitability for trauma interventions.

1.3. Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, participating in 42nd Street’s referral screening process, and refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or direct inappropriate referrals back to the referral source as necessary.

1.4. Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for young people.

1.5. Use highly developed communication skills in working with young people to understand their personal difficulties.

1.6. To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and therapeutic support of young people in line with the service.

1.7. Educate and involve family members and others in treatment where appropriate, conveying trauma and other psychological interventions with sensitivity in easily understood language.

1.8. Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of therapeutic sessions offered, and sessions delivered per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure that support remains accessible and convenient.

1.9. Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.

1.10. Complete all requirements relating to data collection, including using appropriate Routine Outcome Measures within the service and support others where necessary.

1.11. Keep coherent records of all therapeutic activity in line with service protocols and support others to do the same.

1.12. Work closely with other members of the team ensuring an holistic approach is adopted in relation to support around trauma and building resilience.

1.13. Work collaboratively with clinical and community partners to ensure high quality, bespoke support and training is made available to communities in need across Greater Manchester.

2.0 PROFESSIONAL

2.1. With support from senior staff within 42nd Street, contribute to the monitoring, evaluation and feedback to funders (The Co-op Foundation and Big Lottery Fund) and to other interested parties

2.2 Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to 42nd Street and any regulating, professional and accrediting bodies (e.g. BPS, UKCP, BABCP), and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the Department of Health (e.g. NHS plan, National Service Framework, National Institute for Clinical Excellence).

2.3 Ensure that young people’s confidentiality is protected at all times.

2.4 Be aware of, keep up to date with and communicate internally all advances in the spheres of trauma based interventions and other psychological therapies with a view to 42nd Street being a beacon of good practice in this field

2.5 Ensure clear professional objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development (CPD).

2.6 Attend external clinical and internal managerial supervision on a regular basis as agreed with Manager.

2.7 Participate in individual performance review and respond to agreed objectives and contribute to the performance review/management of colleagues where appropriate.

2.8 Keep up to date all records in relation to CPD and ensure personal development plan maintains up to date specialist knowledge of latest theoretical and service delivery models/developments.

2.9 Attend relevant conferences / workshops in line with identified professional objectives.

2.10 Participate in service improvement by highlighting issues and implementing changes in practice.

3.0 Shared with other senior staff and managers:

3.1 To contribute to the writing of relevant action plans and work plans and be involved in their monitoring and evaluation.

3.2  To ensure that activities involving young people are properly risk assessed and due regard is given to safeguarding and health and safety in line with legislative requirements and 42nd Street policy and procedure.

3.3  To provide reports the projects and services as required.

3.4  To attend and facilitate internal and external meetings as required.

3.5  To deliver training, workshops, conference presentations and other forms of knowledge and learning dissemination relevant to your role and work.

3.6  To contribute to the effective implementation of all 42nd Street’s policies and procedures, particularly those relating to Equality & Diversity, Health & Safety, Confidentiality, Youth Protection and Vulnerable Adults.

3.7  To at all times undertake your role and responsibilities in a professional manner maintaining a high quality standard of work and to always work with the aims, objectives, values and ethos of 42nd Street.

4.2  To ensure that the values and principles underlying 42nd Street’s services are maintained and developed. 4.5  To undertake any duties that may be required which are commensurate with your role.

4.6  To be prepared to work at times other than office hours so that the service is accessible. This means regular evenings until 7.30pm (up to twice a week) and occasional weekends.
