VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
2017-2018Calendar Year
The PTC depends very heavily on parent volunteerism. We are fortunate to have many dedicated parents who step up each year to run committees, but we are always looking for more help! Below are some great volunteer opportunities we hope you will consider:
Yearbook Coordinators (Fall 2017): Our amazing Yearbook coordinators are stepping down this year and we are looking for two parents to work with students to put together the Hillside Yearbook for 2017-18. This is wonderful and very rewarding work!! Email Joanna or Erinif you are interested!!
UDA Chair(s) (Fall 2017): The current and phenomenal Co- UDA Chairs will be leaving Hillside at the end of the year and we need two or three parents to replace them. UDA (Understanding our Different Abilities) is a parent-run program with a mission to promote understanding, empathy, acceptance and respect for all people regardless of differing abilities. Through the use of multi sensory activities, speakers and discussions with parent volunteers, elementary students are introduced to a broad range of abilities, both visible and invisible, to reinforce that we are all different. Understanding and accepting those differences creates a stronger community.This program has been running for over 12 years at Hillside and it has become part of the curriculum. The essence of the program hits directly at Hillside's core value of being kind and respectful of ALL people. Please consider getting involved to help keep this amazing program running. Grants Committee (Fall 2017): We are looking toadd an additional parent to the Grants Committee andtrain with the current Grants Committee chairs. Thisrole involves reviewing Enrichment Grants submittedby the teachers and staff and presenting these grants tothe PTC at our meetings. Email Jessica Young,Joanna or Erinif you are interested!!
Media Coordinator (Fall 2017): Our totally amazingchairs are stepping down from this role so we arelooking for one or two parents to organize the volunteerschedule using sign-up genius and collaborate with Ms. Hitron on media needs.
Thank you Committee (2017-2018): We are looking for a few fifth grade parents to head the Thank you Committee. Thank you Committee meets with fifth grade students monthly and helps them write thank you notes to members of our community for donating items and/or volunteering their timeEmail Joanna or Erinif you are interested!!
SEPAC Representative (2017-2018): We are looking for a parent to be the Hillside Special Education Parent Advisory Council Representative. The position involves attending several meetings to discuss and learn about matters that pertain to the education and safety of students with disabilities. Email Joanna or Erinif you are interested!!
