NAVDANYA'S VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
VOLUNTEER’S PROPOSAL FOR NAVDANYA
Justification
We live in a world where it is necessary the collaboration from all the different groups in the society, understanding that we need to work as whole to truly create and transform the reality, and where everybody is important and all help given is valuable.
Navdanya has a strong believe in the food power of change; through the deep knowledge of food and the approach to all those that are involve in its process of growing as well as the reconnection of human and nature, Navdanya believes in the change of life perception, but we need to integrate all social groups to make this possible, that is why we aim to be a space for youth, because we are convinced in their power of regeneration and their ability of mix the traditional routs with the newest in this world of fast changes.
Navdanya´s is a civil organization which aims to promote welfare trough the awakening of the consciousness related to food, of the women role in the society, the farmers rights, the youth participation and the shift the vision of our mother earth presented in the Earth Democracy philosophy.
Due to the extend work accomplished and convinced that the youth participation is essential in any social transformation, Navdanya opens a space for all those young people who wish to participate in the different areas and who want to be involve in the transformation process of their close realities.
Vision of Navdanya´s Volunteers program
· Create a space where young people interested in the environmental situation of India.
· Find a platform to empower themselves in order to gain a wider knowledge to transform the current social and ecological situation that India is facing.
· Create social networks that strengthen the environmental and social activities promoting welfare to all life beings.
· Through the youth proposals and collaboration, create new lines of work that could help Navdanya to have a wider impact in the society.
Mission of Navdanya´s Volunteers program
With the collaboration of the youth sector, strength the work of Navdanya and provide them with a space that allows them to meet people from different backgrounds that share the environmental interest.
Volunteer Profile at Navdanya in Delhi
- Because we work with different areas and social groups in the city, participation is required, so we value all those that are able to communicate in Hindi as well as in English.
- Open minded thinking and creativity are fundamental to generate fresh ideas and new proposals.
- Commitment and wiling towards team work as well to independent initiatives.
- Disponibility to participate in the different projects and initiatives of Navdanya, which means, at least two hours per week and a reunion per month with all the volunteers.
- Proactivity.
- Happiness and good energy.
Areas of work
- Artistic
Art is important in every culture, it helps to communicate ideas in different manners to make an impact in the society, in order to make them participative citizens. This can be accomplished through music, dance, theater, street performance, videos, etc.
- Design
Navdanya usually needs materials for their projects or campaigns, so designers of all kind are always welcome.
- Education
We currently have our garden of hope program, which is addressed to several sectors of the society, so it will be valuable people that help us with it. We need people who knows how to interact with several types of audiences and that have experience with the creation of workshops activities.
- Gardening
Sowing is important in several of the Navdanya´s areas. We currently have a garden which needs attention and creativity to design an urban green space. Also there are different activities that required gardening knowledge or people willing to learn about it.
- Material creation
The elaboration of materials for the different need of Navdanya is important and fun.
- Press
We need people that have experience or interest in the creation of articles; this could be published in the Navdanya´s webpages and can be a very good opportunity to all those involve in the media field.
There are many other areas in which volunteers could be required, it depends of the schedule and needs.
We have Induction twice a year. Please check the calendar dates. (There can be a calendar with important dates, such as the activities that the volunteers are doing in where they are inviting the society to participate, Facebook can be an option)
