The Board of Directors Spotlight!
On April 6th Earl Grey Credit Union held our Annual General Membership meeting and supper. The AGM is the most important event we have at our Credit Union. The Board must report annually to our Members and it is the Members right and responsibility to attend the AGM. There was a crowd of 74 on April 6th but we hope to have even more Members attending next year. The Board reported that 2015 marked another successful financial year at Earl Grey Credit Union.
At the writing of this report there remain twenty five small Credit Unions, with Assets of less than $100 Million, who are independently serving their members in Saskatchewan. Lots of people ask or wonder how does Earl Grey Credit Union do it? I think it a combination of three strengths working together: dedicated and progressive leadership from the Board and the General Manager; a highly effective and hardworking Staff; and loyal and conscientious Members.
Dedicated and progressive leadership can be called good governance – the dictionary definition of governance is controlling and influencing the policy and affairs of an organization. But what does the Board really do? Through the process of Strategic Planning and Enterprise Risk Management the Board has to ask and answer: Who is Earl Grey Credit Union? Why do we exist? What do we have to do to continue to exist? But we know that Earl Grey Credit Union cannot just exist – we need to be relevant to our members and to the community.
The Board of Earl Grey Credit Union believes that we can continue to be relevant to our members and community by working together with other like-size Credit Unions, by exploring new service delivery models to achieve operational efficiencies, branch sustainability and autonomy, with relevance of valuable service provided to member’s autonomy into the future.

Earl Grey Credit Union has always supported the youth of our communities. As part of this support, annually we award a $750.00 scholarship to the Robert Southey grade twelve student who has worked hard and shown the most improvement in their academic average from their grade eleven marks to their grade twelve marks.
Deadline is June 1, so make sure you get your application in on time!

By signing up for e-statements, Earl Grey Credit Union is giving away a $50 Co-op Gift Card to one lucky person every quarter! It could be you! There are two ways to opt-out of paper statements:
1. Stop by the branch to fill out the necessary paperwork, or;
2. Change your ‘Statement Preferences’ when logged into your online banking: My Accounts > Statement Preferences > E-statements only.
