We are looking for a Volunteer/Member co-ordinator for a new and exciting volunteer bike co-operative.

We need an enthusiastic and self- motivated person to bring together and motivate existing local volunteers recruit new ones to help organise group activities. Volunteers are involved in a variety of activities to help run Cycle hubs and Bike events to promote active travel in local communities.

Including the operation of:

·  Cycle Hub – Cycle renovation, Bike maintenance education and led bike rides.

·  Pedal power generator gear - cinema, disco, bubble machine, mobile phone chargers, Scalextric challenge and ‘you Watt’ Challenge.

·  Pump track – Fun and safe bike circuit with bumps and berms to improve bike handling skills.

·  Cycle roadshow – a ‘Try out’ roadshow of 20+ bikes fun and practical bikes.

You will act as the main volunteer contact for the co-op, knowledge and resources are shared within the group.

You will receive support and direction from the board of directors and other members of the co-operative.

Summary of tasks

Your role as a Volunteer/Member co-ordinator will involve:

·  help recruit new volunteers and members

·  keep the group informed of local activities they can join in, including organising regular meetings, communications and socials

·  keeping a record of activities to report back to the Board as often as required.

·  carry out a group plan with your group, focusing on activities they want to focus on in the future.

·  Ensure adequate development opportunities were necessary.

To apply for this role you should be:

·  expected to become a member of the co-operative

·  able to work under minimal supervision

·  an excellent communicator

·  a good motivator, acting as support and encouragement for others

·  someone able to identify skills and interest in the group and co-ordinate activities and responsibilities

·  someone able to work with a diverse range of people

·  committed to the Pedal Power Experience and Sustrans ethos

Time commitment

Varied amount of hours shared with other members of the co-op, which may include workdays, events, meetings and communication with the group. This may include evenings and weekends.

Training and support offered

·  An initial training and induction session will be provided.

·  Sustrans organises a number of days throughout the year, which will offer valuable updates, networking opportunities with other volunteers and group co-ordinators, and training in relevant skills.

·  You will receive central communications to support you in your role and can join the online community to find support with other group co-ordinators.

·  Health and safety guidelines and simple risk assessments will be provided.
