QUARTERLY MEETING SET FOR AUGUST 9TH
The third quarterly meeting of the Republican Party County Executive Committee (CEC) for 2011 is set for Tuesday, August 9th at 7:30 p.m. in the AlanB.SadlerCommissionersCourtBuilding, 501 North Thompson Street, Room 402, in Conroe, TX77301. A Vacancy Committee meeting will convene at 6:45 p.m. at the same location to consider filling vacancies in Precinct Chairmen.
A Munch and Mingle Social will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the CountyHeadquarters at 310 Metcalf Street (formerly Collins Street) in Conroe. Refreshments will be provided by Precinct #3 Constable Tim Holifield. The public is welcome to attend these meetings. “We want everyone at these meetings who is interested in being involved in the political process. An overview of 2011 legislative actions and redistricting at the district and county precinct levels will be the highlights of the meeting”, County Chairman Dr. Wally Wilkerson noted. IMPORTANT 2012 ELECTION YEARDATES
Legislation at the federal and state levels in 2011 has resulted in 2012 election year date changes from 2008 dates.The federal MOVE Act requires military ballots be mailed to military personnel 45 days prior to an election. In order to meet this requirement, the Legislature had to either move the date of the Primary election to April or move the deadline for candidate filing from January to December. They chose to change the date of the deadline for candidate filing in the Primary election and to move the date of the Runoff Primary election to May along with all associated dates for the Runoff. Decades ago, the Primary was held on a Saturday in May and the Runoff a Saturday in June. Below is a list of dates as we know them to be at the present time:
September 13, 2011 First day of Precinct Chair filing for a place on the 2012 Primary election ballot
November 12, 2011First day of candidate filing for a place on the 2012 Primary election ballot
December 12, 2011Last day at 6pm for filing for a place on the 2012 Primary election ballot
December 20, 2011Last date for parties to conduct Primary election ballot position drawing
January 21, 2012Federal deadline to mail military ballots (Move Act)
February 21, 2012First day of period to early vote in person for the Primary election
March 2, 2012Last day of period to early vote in person for the Primary election

MICHAEL REAGAN DELIVERS INSPIRING SPEECH
HOUSE MAJORITY LEADER CANTOR TO VISITCOUNTY
The Montgomery County Republican Party’s Ronald Reagan Anniversary Celebrationon June 8th in The Woodlands Conference Center attracted a capacity crowdwho responded to an inspiring speech from Michael Reagan with frequent ovations. His narratives about his father brought the crowd to its feet on more than one occasion. “State Republican Chairman Steve Munisteri’s stirring introduction of Michael set the stage for a magical evening”, observed County Chairman Dr. Wally Wilkerson. “We were honored to have distinguished guests such as Harris County Judge Ed Emmett and National Committeewoman Borah van Dormolen in attendance”. Proceeds from the event benefited the Party treasury.
The Party leadership recently announced that Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor of Virginia will visit MontgomeryCounty during a trip to the Houston area. Cantor has been involved in the debt ceiling negotiations with Democrats and Vice-President Biden. A reception in his honor will be held on Friday, August 12thin the home of JoAnn and John Robinson, 15 W. Isle Place, The Woodlands 77381, from 5-7 p.m. This visit from such a prestigious Party leader is another example of the Montgomery County Republican Party’s reputation as a premier political party organization.
