IMPORTANT 2012 ELECTION YEARDATES

Legislation at the federal and state levels in 2011 has resulted in 2012 election year date changes from 2008 dates. The federal MOVE Act requires military ballots be mailed to military personnel 45 days prior to an election. In order to meet this requirement, the Legislature had to either move the date of the Primary election to April or move the deadline for candidate filing from January to December. They chose to change the date of the deadline for candidate filing in the Primary election and to move the date of the Runoff Primary election to May along with all associated dates for the Runoff. Decades ago, the Primary was held on a Saturday in May and the Runoff a Saturday in June. Below is a list of dates as we know them to be at the present time:

The Montgomery County Republican Party’s Ronald Reagan Anniversary Celebrationon June 8th in The Woodlands Conference Center attracted a capacity crowdwho responded to an inspiring speech from Michael Reagan with frequent ovations. His narratives about his father brought the crowd to its feet on more than one occasion. “State Republican Chairman Steve Munisteri’s stirring introduction of Michael set the stage for a magical evening”, observed County Chairman Dr. Wally Wilkerson. “We were honored to have distinguished guests such as Harris County Judge Ed Emmett and National Committeewoman Borah van Dormolen in attendance”.
