Vollmer Model VBK593 Thickness and Width Gage Operational Guide.

.)Apply power to the system by placing the I/O switch to the I position.

.)Upon completion of the self-test the VMF1000 amplifiers will have to be zeroed.

.)To zero the amplifiers adjust the micrometer spindles until the digital displays on the VMF1000’s read .0000

.)Press the Reset button labeled RST next to the digital display on the nominal read out displays located Below the VMF1000 amplifiers.

.)At this time all four digital displays should be at zero.

.)Enter the target sizes for the thickness and width dimensions for the product being measured by adjusting the micrometer spindles until the values are displayed in the digital read outs Below the VMF1000 amplifiers.

.)Place the IN/OUT of Position switch to the out position by turning the switch to the Left.

.)Place the C- Frame Forward/Backward Switch to the Backward position by turning the switch to the right.

.)Position the gage so the three (3) lower guide rolls with the flanges are close to the edge of the material and the front upper guide is clear of the material

.)Place the IN/OUT of Position switch to the IN position by turning the switch to the right.

.)Place the C- Frame Forward/Backward switch to the Forward position by turning it to the Left.

.)Tune the gage position by moving the gage until the Three (3) guide rolls with the flange are in contact with the wire, then adjust the front guide roll until it is ⅛” from contact with the material

.)If Necessary, adjust the thickness “C” frame with the brass knurled cylinder in front of the “C” frame to the desired measurement point.

.)If Necessary, adjust the Width “C” frame height position using the black knob located behind the “C” frame so the material is in the center of the contact.

.)The gage is ready for measurement.

.)To remove the gage from the measurement position perform step # 8 then step # 7 and push the gage backwards out of the way.

.)To start the measurement process again start at step #3 unless the new size is close the last size processed. In this case start at step # 6

NOTE: Once a day or if the gage measurement values are perceived to be incorrect the zero point of the gage should be checked by starting this procedure at step #3.
