VIVEKANANDA TEACHER TRAINING AND RESEARCH CENTRE

Goal:

To facilitate and create value based teachers for the present education system who is also responsible in creating the good society.

Objectives:

  1. To Produce role models: Since teaching community is one of the major strength in nation building process, we have to train up and produce role models and in turn they contribute to the society and prepare good citizens.
  1. Education Research Center: Enables to cope up with the present needs for the research in primary education to the teacher trainees in a scientific way. It also initiates self-motivation in solving the existing educational problems.
  1. Community centered teacher training: To train up the trainees as service oriented and dedicated teachers for the society.
  1. Special consideration for the tribals: To give justice for the tribal students who are socially and economically backward meanwhile to maintain equality among the society.

Beneficiaries:

25 candidates of various districts being selected by Karnataka CET board for D.Ed College.

25 candidates will be selected by the management from the various districts within Karnataka (i.e. where the organization is functioning).

Priority will be given to the candidates of H.D.Kote taluk.

Other beneficiaries are 3 government schools and 2 private school students; those are Gandathur, Jakkahalli, Beeramballi, Viveka Tribal Centre for Learning, Viveka School of Excellence.

April-2008

On 1st April 2008 to 5th April 2008, a workshop was held on Microteaching where all the teacher educators and teacher trainees were present. This workshop aimed at developing teaching skills . It was simulative as it had simulative students, time & concept.

On 17th April 2008 to 19th April 2008, N.S.S camp was held at Karapura in H.D. Kote taluk. The main objective of this, was to train the trainees in developing selfless service, sportiveness, unity and comradeship with the kind co-operation of the community.

All the faculty with trainees took part in this camp. On this occasion awareness regarding environment was given by Mr. Rajkumar & Mr. Rona Vasudeva familarised about the Legal Acts. Dr. R Balasubramaniam, the founder president of SVYM talked about the responsibility & characteristics of the facilitator. Miss Malathi, the Education Co-ordinator visited US in the month of february on Interenational visitors leadership program which was organised by US embassy, she shared her experiences about America and also about the social responsibility of the Citizen and his contribution to the society.

May-2008

On 1st May 2008 to 2nd May 2008, Smt. Nalini conducted a workshop on ‘Method of teaching English’ for second year D.Ed students. It was worth conducting for forthcoming examinations. Mrs. Radhamani, the Principal along with others were also acquainted.

On 15th –May 2008, the college had a talk on Value Education by Mr. Chamanlal. All the Teacher Facilitators were present along with the pupils. He briefed about the responsibility , character, time sense & work ethics of the teachers in contributing to the future India.

On 20th May 2008 to 21st May 2008, Nature camp was conducted under the leadership of Mr. Rajkumar, Naturalist at Bandipur. Second year D.Ed students were present in that camp. It was helpful to know about the nature of that region and to distinguish between their native nature.

June-2008

On 7th June 2008, Mr.Sathish, science teacher in the Demonstration school in Mysore, conducted a workshop on ‘Critical Pedagogy and its Implications in Classroom Practices’ for all the facilitators of SVYM. It was an enriching concept for the future facilitators who have lot of initiative in moulding future India.

On 13th June 2008, Mr.Mahadevaiah and Smt.Jayashree, the resource persons from Block Resource Centre, H.D.Kote held a day workshop on‘Chaithanya Method of Teaching’ at VTTRC where 49 trainees participated. It was an orientation for writing plan of lesson for Environmental Science & Kannada.

On 16th June 2008, ‘Chaithanya Tarani’ a workshop in preparing Teaching -Learning -Materials while facilitating Kannada was conducted by resource person Mr.Mahadevaiah for second year D.Ed pupils. It was a creative & child motivating program. Here numerous learning aids were prepared by the trainees with the guidelines of the Resource Person.
