Description of the activities
April 2007
On 6th April 2007, the students from 1st standard to 10th standard were sent to their respective haadi’s from the hostel. Their result were announced on 10th April 2007.
On 11th and 12th of April 2007, the staff had a discussion with H.D. Malathi, on the preparation of curriculum according to N.C.E.R.T. views and guide lines.
On 20th April 2007, the summer camp was organized by Mr.Prakash and team of ‘Rotary Inner wheel Club’ Bangalore. The participants were from the Ashrama Schools of H.D.Kote taluk, nearly seventy in number along with the students of V.T.C.L. The programmes in the camp were bhajans, yogasanas, gymnastics, music, dance, drama, some awareness programs about miracles performed by sages/saint/priest/monks, to enhance the participant’s courage they organised story telling, pick and speak, self-introduction which really helped some introverts to compete in the main stream. They also organized recreational games for participants and teachers.Mr.Aravind from Mysore, told some salient features of snakes & exhibited few varieties of snakes
On 26th April 2007, the S.S.L.C. Board Examination result was announced. It is note worthy that V.T.C.L. achieved a record 92.10% result. Out of 38 students, 12 got first class, 16 second class, 7 passed in third class or just pass, and remaining 3 were to complete a paper in mathematics which they have completed now.
May 2007
On 14th May 2007, 10th students admission was processed. Spoken English classes were started. The admission process was closed by 25th May 2007.
On 25th May 2007, 1st standard to 9th standard admission and classes were started. The admission process was completed by 5th June 2007. The regular time-table and other curricular and co-curricular activities got processed.
On 22nd to 24th May 2007,the staff prepared the regular time table for the year 2007-2008.
June 2007
On 1st June 2007, the regular academic program commenced. The admission process was fully completed by 10th June 2007.
On 8th June 2007, the educational materials like text books, note books, instrumental boxes, pencils, bags, erasers, etc were distributed & also on 14th June 2007, the uniforms were distributed to the children.
On 11th June 2007, the election of the leaders for the school was announced. Filing of nomination was on 12th and the withdrawal of nomination was on 13th June 2007. The students actively participated in the election process . Later they had the voting on 18th June 2007. Even though it was ‘mock- election’, it was well structured and administered. The counting was held on 19th June 2007. In short, this entire program was the rehearsal of our Democratic Election Schedules and the result was very encouraging.
On 22nd June 2007, His Excellence Mr.Mallikarjuna Swamy, the B.E.O.alongwith the Secretary of SVYM,Mr.M.A.Balasubramanyam & Educational Co-coordinator Mrs. Malathi visited VTCL. In their presence the ministers who were elected by the students as Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister etc, took an oath.
Knowing the necessity & the impact of co-curricular classes an unique plan was sought out to sustain the balancing of both curriculum & co- curriculum subjects. Hence analyzing the interests of the children through the previous years including the mentor’s opinions a child was free to choose a HOBBY CLASS { Music (Classical & Light Music), Dance, relevant to his\her desire & are trained on every Tuesdays & Wednesdays under the able guidance of Mr. Suresh for Music & Miss.Rathna Jain for the Dance. 80 students from 5th to 10th standard are going through the training from 4.20pm to 5.15pm on every Tuesday & Wednesday.

Hostel Program:
This year 299 children are admitted to the hostel. Two maids are appointed to look after the younger children.
On 17th June 2007,there was a recreational program which was organized by the 10th standard students themselves. They had a quiz which was based on their content that would be helpful for their academic scoring. For entertaining they had dance, songs, jokes etc. Thirty students participated in this program.
On 24th June 2007,the program was continued ,on this day nearly 50 students participated.
Our esteemed dream Agriculture and Horticulture Training Programme for tribal youth started successfully with 10 students.
July-2007
1st July 2007,Intra School Sports Meet was organized in the school for the children. Students from 5th to 10th class competed in this meet. Everybody right from the organizers to the participants enjoyed the event . This competition motivated the students to go ahead and participate with zeal and zest in the taluk level sports meet.
On the same day ,Miss. Joan a volunteer from America who is well-versed and trained in teaching English as Second Language came and stayed with us for a whole month . Right from the day one ,she began taking class for the students .8th to 10th students were given priority. Her classes were very effective along with it,it was even beneficial to the facilitators. Especially, her teaching methodology i.e., TPR-Total Physical Response ,gave good result in a short span.
On 14th July 2007 , Students Governing Body - the elected Students Ministers and other elected members were felicitated .
On 20th July 2007 to 22nd July 2007, Miss.Thriveni and Mr Devadas attended the ‘Learning Network Conference ’ apprehended at Deenabandhu, Chamaraja Nagar. The programs were very beneficial and informative and helped is to imbibe and implement in the school. Creative learning materials were also exhibited. There were plenty of books related to the field.
On 25th July 2007 to 27th July 2007 ,the health check-up program was conducted for all the children of the school. They were diagnoised and given treatment.
Vanamahostava: -
On 26th July 2007 , Vanamahostava , a three day event was inaugurated and many nature related programs like drawing , painting, singing ,skit were conducted. On the third day i.e., on 28th Regional Forest Officer of Gundre range presided the festive event.He spoke on the importance of conservation of forest and animals and planted a sapling. The students and the staff followed the same.
On 30th July 2007, a friendly match with Beeramballi G.H.P.School students was organized which enhanced the spirit and helped in the participation at Taluk Level Sports Meet.
August-2007
On 1st August 2007, ‘Samskrutha Sapthaha ’ was conducted . It included Samskrutha songs, skits, dance for Samskrutha songs and simple conversations. It motivated the students & the staff to learn and speak as much.as possible in Samskrutha.
On 2nd August 2007,there was review meet with Miss. H.D.Malathi ,Education Co-ordinator - on the progress & challenges of the school in 3 months i.e., May to July .
On 11th August 2007, long awaited NCC training was formally introduced in the school. Enrollment of thirty students and distribution of uniform was held on the same day.N.C.C training was joyfully welcomed by the students .
Adventure Camp
On 13th August 2007 to 15th August 2007,an adventure camp to Makalidurga hill was headed by IAMAS team in collaboration with Rotary Mountaineering Club Mysore City . Wherein fifty students and four staff joined the camp . Resource persons i.e., Deepak Solanki , Shankar and Mohan led the team . To celebrate 60 year Independence in an unique way, these fifty students were selected. On 14th August, the team met the Governor T.N.Chathruvedi along with the founder president of SVYM, Dr. R. Balasubramanyam and received the torch light which signifies ‘ The real light of our Great National Heroes ’. From there the whole team went to Hosahalli , a village near Makalidurga hill. A grand procession followed by meeting of a freedom fighter of the village , cultural events and formation of ‘ 60- INDIA using torch lights by the whole team. Around 10. p.m team members along with the village youths started to ascend the hill. Reached there by midnight, lighted a fire camp. Once again there were lot of celebrations around the fire camp. Early in the morning at 6 ‘0’ clock Sub-Inspector of Hosahalli range hoisted the flag . Due respect was given to the flag .After the celebration ,we descended the hill . Later on , we made a trip to Vishweswaraiah Museum in Bangalore . It was the students first visit to the museum . They were very inquisitive. Lots of questions , wonder in their eyes played a dominating factor at those hours .15th night at around 11 p.m everybody were back at the school campus.
PARENTS MELA:-
On 14th August 2007 , ‘ Parents Mela ’ was organized . Miss. H.D. Malthi presided the program. In this juncture, school activities , services provided by the school and the hostel, learning level of the children were discussed . It was a lively and interesting dialogue on child’s progress .
INDEPENDENCE DAY:-
Celebrations began 15 days prior to Independence Day . Various cultural , educative , creative and joyful programs were held. A tribute to our Great National Heroes were given in an unique way by the students. They composed patriotic songs , wrote poems, enacted the historical events, painted the glorious era and the people behind them in their own way . Quiz Contest was highly educative.
On 15th August 2007, Dr.Seetharam (Osteologist) of S.V.Y.M organisation , Mr. Sanimadaiah and Smt.Sarasu presided over the function. On the eve of the celebration of Independence Day in the school.,. about 50 parents witnessed the flag hoisting & kawait of our children. After the speech of the guest & the chief guest, cultural programs such as ; patriotic songs, dances for the patriotic songs, bharathanatyam , drama, role play, self written poems & songs all of which were based on the theme of freedom struggle were held . After the program, meals along with sweets was provided to the parents and to the children. All the students, parents and the staff enjoyed the occasion.
On 20th August 2007, Dr.R. Balasubramanyam , spoke about his yester years where he achieved a lot and yet a lot has to be done. This in fact motivated to toil with ardor and fortitude. In this program all the staff, Education Co-ordinator and Resource Manager were present.
Taluk Level Sports Meet for High School section was commenced from 21st
August 2007 to 23rd August 2007 . Here in the Meet , boys competed for Kho- Kho and bagged second place. Girls who stood first in Kabbadi at Hobli Level , achieved the same feat and were selected for District Level Sports Meet . A girl, by name Sunitha bagged second prize in long jump in the Meet. .
Raksha Bandhan
On 28th August 2007, celebration of Raksha Bandhan was held to develop Universal Brotherhood . The importance and necessity of Universal Brotherhood was given to the children .
September 2007
On 5th September 2007, Teacher‘s Day was celebrated. The whole program was organized by the students. They had all the formalities like invocation, welcome speech, importance of the celebration & vote of thanks. Firstly ‘Guru Vandana’ was arranged where each and every teachers of the organization were introduced and they were presented with a momentum as a tribute by the students .The celebratory was in an exclusive manner. It’s exclusive because of its brainstorming sessions. First and the foremost part included the discussion and presentation on the important educational issues by the teachers. The presentations made the teachers to look back at their work. As the day preceded, it took a turn. Just for a day the teachers were able to recollect their childhood memories with the help of the students as they organized few games. To conclude the program the winners of every contest were given prizes. Finally, it was a pleasant way of appreciation.
On 12th September 2007 , District Level Sports meet for girls of High School section was commenced . Girls’ Kabbadi team of the school competed in the contest. Even though they lost the game, a girl by name Chandi was selected to represent the District Kabbadi Team in the State Level Sports Meet . The school is very proud of her feat .
Gowri –Ganesha Festival :-
On 14th September 2007 to 15th September 2007 , the above mentioned festival was celebrated . This time it was special in its own way . Richly decorated Ganesh along with his mother Gowri were the star attraction for five days. Everyday Bhajans in praise of the Lord were sung by the students . Prasadam was distributed everyday . Students felt at home.
On 19th September 2007, the Gowri –Ganesh Visarjana, program was held.
Mentor Camp:
On 17th September 2007, mentor camp was conducted by the mentors and mentees in their respective haadies . All the formal arrangements were made by the children themselves . The formal functions like invocation , welcome speech ,introductions of school activities, services provided by the school and the hostel , vote of thanks, etc were performed very well by the students.The parents were proud to see their kids speaking in front of the audience and paid gratitude to the school and the organization.In the discussion,the parents keeping aside the usual problems ,were eager to know about thelearning of the their children . This was the very first time , they were showing their concern towards child’s learning . This was the result of the 20 years sweat by the organization.
On 20th September 2007 , the ChamarajaNagar district teachers of NGO and GO schools visited the school and discussed about the unique processes of the school like Mentor Scheme, Contextual syllabus and workbooks . This was organized by the government in collaboration with Deenabandhu School , ChamarajaNagar .
October 2007
On 2nd October 2007, there was the celebration of Gandhi Jayanthi & Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanthi. On this occasion, many educative programs like Speech ,Quiz, Bhajans, etc were held.
On 3rd October 2007,the midterm examinations commenced for the student from 1st standard to 10th standard and were completed on 9th October 2007.
On 10th October 2007, the school declared ‘Dasara’holidays for 19 days i e from 10th to 28th October 2007.
On 11th October 2007, Mr. Srinivas Rao organized ‘Personality development’ camp for 9 days at J S S college at Sargur, Sixteen students from 10th standard participated in the camp. The programs were mainly focused on discipline, Universal brotherhood, Health and Hygiene.
On 13th October 2007, there was review from the organization look over there months progress & challenges of the school i.e. July August & September. It was leaded by HD Malathi, the education co coordinator of the organization.
On 14th October 2007, there was a trip for the members of the organization for a day.
On 15th October 2007, Mrs. Thriveni & Mr. Kumar attended the workshop held at act , Bangalore. The duration was four days i e from 15th to 19th. The work shop was about the class room management, learning style, Teaching styles, development of resource kit & preparing worksheets based on blooms taxonomy. It was very beneficial for the teachers.
On 29th October 2007, the school was reopened.
On 30th October 2007, after the vocation the strength of the school was too low so, the teachers of the school visited the hadies & brought back the children to the school.
November 2007
1st Nov 2007 – 30th Nov 2007 : Kannada Rajyothasava was celebrated in the school with great fervor . Kannada Masa was celebrated for the whole month of November – 2007in the school. The students enacted several dramas, wrote poems & stories in Kannada, participated in pick and speak, talks only in kannada for the given time was also organised . Competitions like role play, folk songs and dances were also held.By hosting kannada flag and paying respects to the flag by singing NADAGEETHA on 30th was organized as the valedictory function for the event. Fruits were given as prizes to the winners of the competition.
14th November 2007 i.e., on the eve of Children’s Day ,the programs like
pulling the rope, hitting the pot, kite flying , ball in the bucket, team spirit game and many other games were organized to celebrate the juncture. The winners were bagged with the learning materials as prizes.
On 17th November 2007 to 18th November 2007 ,Sports Meet for Tribals was organized in Chamarajanagar. The students from Viveka Tribal Centre For Learning competed in the Meet and identified themselves as the winners in the events like 100 mts, 200 mts, 1500 mts relay and in long jump. The students who bloomed as the winners were Somashekar , Suresha & Eraju in two events respectively. The winners also competed in the State Level Sports Meet for Tribals.
