VISITING PROGRAMME 2

LOCATIONS – Nature Park Papuk, Eco Centre Zlatna Greda, Nature Park Kopački rit, Baranja region in Croatia; Danube-Drava National Park in Hungary

DURATION – 4 DAYS

PROGRAMME CAN BE ORGANISED AT ANY TIME OF THE YEAR (RECOMMENDED PERIOD: APRIL – OCTOBER)

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT – depending on season and weather conditions: appropriate (multi-layer, waterproof) clothes and shoes and mosquito repellent.

PROGRAMME:

DAY 1

Arrival to Papuk Nature Park. Introduction to interesting features of the park and the programme itinerary. Two-day horse-ride along the new horse riding trail (33 km) from Orahovica to Jankovac. After several hours of easy riding you have the opportunity to taste local food specialities and stay overnight in a peaceful part of the Park, where you will awake to the sound of nature.

DAN 2

On the second day you continue along the horse trail towards Jankovac – Park forest representing the heart of Papuk Nature Park. Jankovac is a mountain valley surrounded by century old beech forest as is often referred to as the „Pearl of Slavonia“. Halfway to Jankovac there is a resting place in newly built gazebos for horses and riders, surrounded with pinewood forest and freshwater springs. Upon arrival to Jankovac a dinner and accommodation are organised.

DAN 3

Breakfast and departure towards Kopački rit and Eco centre Zlatna Greda. Getting to know the history, natural and cultural attractions of Zlatna Greda and Kopački rit. Hiking route through Kopački rit Nature Park to the banks of the Danube River. Along the route there is a possibility to observe and take photos of wildlife with the help of the expert guide. Lunch and relaxation. Afternoon is reserved for sightseeing tours of Baranja and Osijek with the expert guide. Evening is reserved for visits to the wine cellars with tasting of local wines. Dinner and accommodation.

DAN 4

Breakfast and departure towards National Park Danube-Drava. The programme starts with a visit in „Drava Kapu” visitor centre, where participants can visit an exhibition about the nature values of Drava River and bird repatriation station. After lunch in „Drava Kapu” Grill Café participants travel to Old-Drava Visitor Centre, where they can learn about nature and cultural values of Ormánság region. The interactive exhibition can be visited with wheelchairs as well. After visiting exhibition, traditional farming study trail teaches about tools and methods of our ancestors’ land cultivation, animal husbandry, fruit growing, beekeeping, etc. Programme is completed with visit to domestic livestock exhibition, where Hungarian Grey cattle, Mangalitsa pigs, Hucul ponies and old breeds of sheep and poultry can be viewed. End of programme and departure.
