Writing Similes
Definition:
“A simile, like a metaphor, is a comparison between two unrelated nouns. A simile functions somewhat differently in a poem than a metaphor does. A poet sometimes uses a simile rather than a metaphor for rhythm, sound, or syntax. The lines below do not make sense without the work like.

Practice
First write similes by adding nouns on the bines..
· Television is like a pacifier.
· Night is like a blanket.
Then answer the questions Who? What? Where? When? or How? about some of your comparisons.
Example – The breeze is like a whisper (where?) in the morning.
