VISITING NURSE | HOSPICE ATLANTA PRESENTS

20TH ANNIVERSARY BIG-TO-DO, SUNDAY, MAY 1;

POPULAR FAMILY EVENT BENEFITS CHILDREN’S PROGRAM

ATLANTA (GA) - The 20th Anniversary Big-To-Do, Visiting Nurse | Hospice Atlanta's special benefit at Zoo Atlanta, is scheduled this year on Sunday, May 1, from 4:00pm-9:00pm, rain or shine.For the first time, this popular afternoon of family fun takes place throughout the entire zoo and features the theme: Candy Land. Party-goers will meander through 20 interactive steps on zoo pathways, enjoying a variety of fun experiences and surprises for all ages. Also new this year: ticket packages that include a Zoo Atlanta Family Membership. Zoo Atlanta will donate to Visiting Nurse | Hospice Atlanta a percentage of every Family Membership ticket package sold.

The zoo will be transformed into a giant Candy Land, mimicking the popular kid’s board game, so families and children of all ages can enjoy many “sweet” zoo exhibits like zookeeper’s animal facts, an orangutan feeding, and other interactive animal experiences. Other activities to whet the kids’ appetites include face painting, crafts, rides on the zoo train and carousel, and a climbing wall. An African band will provide music, and a DJ will lead guests in line dances, contests and games. Hungry families will appreciate the mouth-watering backyard barbeque, snow cones and of course, cotton candy.

Visiting Nurse | Hospice Atlanta’s Children’s Program comprises a specialized pediatric hospice team that cares for children of all ages, from neonates to adolescents, with all types of life-limiting illnesses, at home or at the Hospice Atlanta Center. The program also provides families with education and counseling including the annual Camp STARS bereavement camps. These camps – one for children and one for families – help people deal with their grief in two special weekend programs.

Ashley Gelber is the Event Chair of the 20th Anniversary Big-To-Do; Ashley Giardino is Event Chair Elect. The committee comprises: Craig M. Allen, Melissa T. Allen, Dawn K. Dwyer, Gayle Golden, Angela Graff, Danielle Halkos, Christine Harlow, Wilneka Harris, Amanda Hazelrigs, Ashlyn D. Held, Caroline Kelly, Molly M. Lynch, Britton McLeod, Deborah P. Miller, Charlotte B. Mills, Amanda Moore, Kim N. Reid, Jessica Sours, Jeannie Tarkenton, Cassie Tibbitts, Mary B. (Lee) Todd, Scott Yates, and Elizabeth Yates.
