VICTOR S. TANQUARY, JR. NURSING SCHOLARSHIP

DESCRIPTION:

A Two-year scholarship from the Victor S. Tanquary, Jr. Trust, in honor of the Tanquary Family. The award given will be up to a maximum of $1500 per person per year for each of the Freshman and Sophomore years. One to three students per year may be eligible, to be determined annually, based on earnings and growth of the endowment. This scholarship must be used for educational expenses for the Nursing Program. PLEASE NOTE: Availability of the second year award is also based on the earnings and growth of the endowment.

REQUIREMENTS:

1.  The applicant must complete and file an official application and any required materials by the deadline dates as predetermined by the Foundation Scholarship Committee.

2.  The Foundation Scholarship Committee shall include a WVC nursing staff member, who serves in an advisory role for the selection of this scholarship.

3.  The recipient(s) shall be determined during the summer prior to the beginning of Fall Semester of the award year.

4.  Character, disposition, and interest in successfully completing the Associate Degree in Nursing as well as pursuing employment in the nursing field shall be factors in determining selection.

5.  Need shall be a factor in the case of equally qualified applicants.

6.  If the student withdraws from the nursing program the grant is voided and any remaining funds will be returned to the trust.

7.  Upon verification of enrollment, the student may choose to either turn in receipts and be reimbursed for expenses or request vouchers for books, tuition, fees, and uniforms. The money must be used for educational expenses such as tuition, books, and uniform costs.

THE RECIPIENT:

a.  Must have graduated from an IECC District 529 high school or may qualify if residency in Wabash County has been established for the past two years in a capacity other than attending college. Proof may be requested.

b.  Must be officially accepted to enter either the first or second level of the A.D.N. program.

c.  Must be currently in good standing academically at WVC with no less than a 2.5 overall grade point average.

d.  Must not have been convicted of a felony or a charge of substance abuse.
