YOUR DAY IN COURT VIDEO

This video program is an information resource for victims of crime who may be required to attend court as witnesses.

Anyone who has to go to court for the first time may be nervous. This is because it is an unknown and intimidating environment.

The video was designed to reduce stress and empower victims of crime by providing an overview of the court process in both Local and District Courts in NSW and shows the role and responsibilities of court personnel.

By knowing what to expect when going to court, victims of crime will be able to approach the experience from a position of knowledge, confidence and strength.

While specifically designed for victims of crime this program can be used as an introduction to the court system in legal studies and similar courses at secondary schools and colleges to provide a basic understanding of what happens in the courtroom.

The accompanying reference booklet (36pp) supports the video and provides abroad spectrum of important information about court processes, where to seek help and information, a glossary of court terminology and a Charter of Victims Rights.

This program was made for the Victims of Crime Bureau within the NSW Attorney General's Department and is available for $27.50 (including GST), plus postage and handling.

Duration: 27:30 minutes.
