Open Citizen Input- Topics not reasonably anticipated by the Chair 48 hours in advance of the meeting:
· PFC Young, a Korean War Veteran, remains have been identified and will be returned to Foxboro for burial. The Army will provide Honor Guard
Approval of minutes from March 15, 2012 meeting: Bertha Maloof:
· Minutes accepted
Crossroads Veterans Services District (CVSD) update: Bob Siteman
· District bylaws have been reviewed, revised and updated.
· The responsibilities of the District Board versus the Town Managers have been delineated.
· Town Managers will recommend salaries and the District Board will approve.
Status of third VSO: Bob Siteman/Mike Johns
· There were 14 Applicants a final decision will be made and announced through proper channel.
Memorial Day Sub-committee: Jim Finn
· Schools have been notified for possible speakers.
· A meeting will be May 7th at the American Legion to finalize details.
· Letters will be sent out to participants.
· Jo updated the VSAC on plants for common.
Veteran’s Suicide Prevention Summit: Mike Johns
· Article from NY Times emailed out to committee members. There are a large number of Veteran suicides from the current military actions.
· Continued discussion is needed to identify what can be done as a community to be proactive in identifying problems.
· Considering a committee to help increase awareness and identify resources available. (ie. VA System)
VSO update: Mike Johns
· Mike was on the Charlie M show and spoke about chapter 115 benefits, insurance coverage and some of the door to door scams.
· Updated on the chapter 115 case load
