1.4 SUBMITTALS

1.4.1 Submit under provisions of Section 01 30 00 - Administrative Requirements.

1.4.2 Product Data: Manufacturer's literature for gate and operator and each manufactured accessory to be provided for Project. Include the following:

1.4.2.1 Wiring diagrams for gate operator.

1.4.2.2 Maintenance data, operators and parts manuals.

1.4.3 Shop Drawings: Show location of vertical pivot gates system in relation with adjacent fencing and paving by others, details of installation, hardware locations, and accessories.

1.4.3.1 Show unsecured side and secured side.

1.4.3.2 Show plan view, operator housing dimensions, gate height above ground, overall height, gate length, overall width, and foundation dimensions.

1.4.3.3 Show foundation details, frost line, mounting details, and clearances.

1.4.3.4 Clearance between top of foundation and bottom of gate barrier:

1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE

1.5.1 Installer Qualifications: Firm approved by manufacturer or with minimum five years successful experience installing vertical pivot gates similar to the scope and complexity required for this project.

1.5.2 Pre-installation Conference: Conduct meeting at site prior to commencing work related to vertical pivot gate system installation.

1.5.2.1 Require attendance of all trades directly involved in vertical pivot gate installation.

1.5.2.2 Review site conditions, procedures, and coordination required with related work.

1.5.3 Mock-Up: Provide completely assembled mock-up of each type of gate, representative of the design as shown on the Drawings.

1.5.3.1 Locate full size mock-up in location as directed by the Architect.

1.5.3.2 Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship is approved by Architect.

1.5.3.3 Remove and reinstall mock-up until approved by the Architect.

1.5.3.4 Approved mock-up may remain as part of finished work and shall establish the standard for remaining work.

1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

1.6.1 Deliver, store and handle materials and products in strict compliance with manufacturer's instructions and recommendations and industry standards.

1.6.1.1 Store in covered area away from direct sunlight.

1.6.1.2 Stack boxes containing trim members flat to prevent sagging.

1.6.2 Store materials in manufacturer's original sealed, labeled packaging until ready for installation and in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. Protect from damage.

1.7 PROJECT CONDITIONS

1.7.1 Field Measurements: Verify field dimensions and component layout prior to beginning shop drawings or installation.

1.8 WARRANTY

1.8.1 Warranty: Manufacturer's standard warranty for system and system components against defects in manufacturing or failures that prevent gates from operating as intended.

2.4.2 Gear Motor Unit: 1/3 HP 24V DC TENV motor, 1800 RPM, full load amps 13.5, continuous duty, right angle.

2.4.2.1 Gear Motor: one unit with lubricating fluid, designed to keep the gate locked in the closed position.

2.4.2.2 Operation: Design system for 100 percent duty cycle.

2.4.2.3 Power: 115 Volt AC 24 Volt DC battery back up.

2.6.3.3 Hydraulic pump, motor, and reservoir manufactured as one unit with fluid thermometer and fluid level sight gauge.

2.6.3.4 Operation: The hydraulic system is designed to keep the gate locked in the closed position, preventing the gate from being lifted open.

2.6.3.5 Pedestal Frame: Welded construction with removable outer skin of cross break corrosion resistant 0.063 aluminum plate panels, factory finished manufacturers standard gray.

2.6.3.6 Inspection Door Hardware: Stainless steel continuous hinges and heavy-duty lockable pull down catches to hold inspection door shut.

2.6.4 Gates: Barrier system as shown on the Drawings, designed to resist twist and sway.

2.6.4.1 Aluminum: Manufacturer's standard aluminum barrier up to 25 feet (7.62 meters) wide opening per gate leaf, nominal 3-1/8 by 2-7/8 inch (79 x 73 mm) diamond 6063-T5 alloy aluminum amplimesh screen fabric welded both sides completely, with sway bracing. Leading member of an aluminum barrier 4" schedule 40 round tube, sway braces 1-1/4 x 1-1/4 x .087 inch (31.75 x 31.75 x 2.2 mm) square tube uprights 2 x 2 x 0.120 inch (50 x 50 x 3 mm) square tube. Sway braces bolted to barrier.

2.6.6.1 Cylinder: 2-1/2 x 38 inch (63.5 x 965.2 mm) stroke hydraulic cylinder with 1-3/8 inch (25.4 mm) diameter rod, limit switches and cushioned slow down on each end of travel, and adjustable stops with lock down in any position.

2.6.6.2 Hydraulic Fluid: Manufacturer's standard, factory checked, filled, and tested.

2.6.7 Balance System: Designed to allow gate to be hand raised and lowered with 12 to 15 pounds (5.44 to 6.8 kg) of pressure, consisting of manufacturer's standard cables, sheaves, sealed cam yoke roller bearings, and tension springs pulled in a straight line.

2.6.7.1 Safety Control Switch: Provide built-in safety control switch capable of stopping barrier in any position should balance system fail.

2.6.7.2 Testing: Factory test and adjust balance system to ensure gate can be manually raised and lowered with specified pressure.

2.6.7.3 Signage: Provide description of signage type and estimated weight to enable gate manufacturer to balance the operator correctly at the time of manufacturing.
