Seminar description

This one day seminar aims to promote links between community and the Paediatric Orthopaedic Unit at Monash Children’s: to improve the quality of GP, M&CHN, Allied Health referrals and to improve the appropriateness of these referrals to the consultant clinics or physiotherapy lead clinics.

Seminar objectives

At the conclusion of this seminar, participants shall be able to:

·  Describe the risk factors for plagiocephaly and the importance of early intervention

·  Describe the risk factors for Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip

Describe the importance of early intervention

Demonstrate an understanding of the Barlow’s manoeuvre & the Ortolani’s manoeuvre

Understand the importance of correct choice of bracing

·  Understand the normal variance of the foot

·  Describe the risk factors for CTEV and the importance of early intervention

Describe the importance of early intervention

·  Understand the indications for referral and the type of referral required.
