Salary and Conditions of Service
- £6,752 per annum which is £129.50 per week
- 12 month contract
- 37 hours a week with contractual hours of 8.30 -5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30 -4.30pm on a Friday with one hour for lunch
- 26 days holiday plus bank holidays (3 days to be taken between Christmas and New Year)
Start date will be17 August 2017, subject to receipt of a satisfactory DBS check
You will complete an OCR Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration during work time. Darlington Borough Council will provide the training on a part time basis.

PostApprenticeship :Curriculum & Administrative Support
Responsible to:Curriculum & Administrative Support Manager
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POST
The postholder will play an important team role within the Curriculum & Administrative Support function of the College by carrying out a wide range of duties with the aim of producing a high quality support service for staff, students and visitors. In particular, the post requires high levels of IT proficiency and time management; the ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, outside agencies and visitors; and the expectation to work closely and flexibly with all colleagues within this function of the College.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST
The duties of the post will be determined by the Curriculum & Administrative Support Manager and will be drawn from the following areas:
Curriculum/Administrative Support
designing, reproducing and administering a wide variety of teaching and learning and publicity materials using a wide variety of software packages
assisting programme and subject areas in administrative and organisational tasks in their departments including setting up classroom displays
providing support and advice to staff and students requiring reprographics services and ensuring all equipment is functional for daily use
providing support as required to the MIS database of the college regarding student admissions and guidance information
organising and maintaining manual filing systems for student records and other filing as required
processing College incoming and outgoing mail
Reception Duties
receiving and directing visitors to the College and handling enquiries as appropriate
answering the telephone and directing telephone calls as appropriate
dealing with queries from students, parents and staff
carrying out general reception duties
General Duties
carrying out duties, commensurate with the position, as determined by the Curriculum & Administrative Support Manager or the Principal according to unexpected College needs

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POST
The postholder will play an important team role within the Library and Open Learning Area of the College by carrying out a wide range of duties with the aim of producing a high quality service for staff, students and visitors. You will be expected to work closely and flexibly with all colleagues within this function of the College.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST
- Help to process new books, laptops, photographic equipment and other resources, using the computerised library catalogue
- issue and return books and other resource items using the computerised system
- deal with library enquiries where possible, including Information and Learning Technologies (ILT) such as computer and printer problems
- deal with letters and correspondence
- shelve returned books and keep shelves tidy and in correct order
- deal with the withdrawal of old and damaged items
- distribute internal post
- help to create displays
- help to maintain an environment conducive to study
- help develop on-line guides and materials to support students
