MAPCU 8 Ball Pool Tournament 2013

Rules and Regulation

  1. Eligibility

1.1.  Open only to MAPCU members.

1.2.  Only FULL-TIME College/University College/ University students are allowed to participate.

1.3.  Each participant in MAPCU 8 Ball Pool Tournament 2013 is required to furnish the organizers with documentary evidence that he/she is a current student of the said institution on the day of the event. The following document:

  1. A valid student identity card or letter from registrar or equivalent OR
  2. Electronic evidence of student status.

1.4.  The organizer of event is authorized to disallow a participant who does not produce the required document on the day of the event.

  1. Suspension and Disqualification

2.1.  In the event of fight between players, officials or supporters of participating teams/players, the team/player that instigated the fight:

a)  Will be fined RM 300.00

b)  Will be banned from the tournament

c)  Would be required to pay for any damages incurred during the fight.

2.2.  Any College found to have violated the MAPCU Games Rule and Regulation, by fielding a non-registered player will be automatically disqualified and an official complaint will be lodged to the College concerned as well as to MAPCU.

  1. Postponement

3.1.  A postponed match will be played as soon as the Organizer deems it fit or when an alternate venue is available.

3.2.  Any request for postponement by participating teams will not be entertained.

  1. Others

4.1.  Only Team Managers are allowed to discuss any matters pertaining to the tournament with the Technical Committee.

4.2.  Team Managers MUST either be a STAFF or student (MUST be authorized by College in writing) from their respective Colleges/University College/University.

4.3.  Team Managers should ensure that discipline of players and supporters are adhered to at all time.

4.4.  Any other matters concerning the tournament not covered for in the Rules and Regulation shall be left to the discretion of the Technical Committee whose decision shall be final.

4.5.  The organizer will not be responsible for any loss of property or injury sustained during the duration of the tournament.

4.6.  The Organizer will reserve the right to make any necessary changes or actions deemed fit from time to time in order to ensure the smooth running of the tournament.

4.7.  All teams/players MUST provide with their own refreshment and first aid.

4.8.  No smoking within the vicinity.

4.9.  The prize will be given to Champion & First runner-up of each event.

  1. Format

5.1.  The tournament will be played in unisex single and double events. (eg. in single event, male player will against female player; in double event, the pair up can be male-male/female-female/male-female players).

5.2.  Each College/University College/University is allowed to send maximum 4 players in single event and maximum 2 pairs of double players in double event.

5.3.  Format of play will be single knock-out, best of three with alternate breaks, until the winner is determined.

5.4.  The break is legal when neither the cue ball nor the 8-ball is pocketed, and either one of the numbered balls is pocketed or four of them is driven to the rail.

  1. Choice of Group

6.1.  If no numbered ball is pocketed by the opening break then the table remains open and the opposing player is next to the table.

6.2.  Open table means that the group of balls a player has to pocket is not decided yet. It is legal to hit any solid or stripe or 8-ball first while the table is open.

6.3.  The choice of group is determined when a player legally pockets any ball at open table. He selects his group by the one he just pockets.

  1. Fouls

7.1.  The cue ball does not hit a ball of the player’s group first.

7.2.  The cue ball is pocketed.

7.3.  None of the balls is driven to the rail.

7.4.  If a shot is deemed a foul, the opposing player gets the cue in hand. This means that the player can place the cue ball anywhere on the table (does not have to be behind the head string).

7.5.  A player loses the game when he pockets the 8-ball and not all of the balls of his group are pocketed.

  1. Protest

8.1.  In the matter of the actual conduct of the competition, the Organizers decision is final on all points of fact.

8.2.  Any protest concerning the competition must be written and signed by the team Official only and handed to the Organizing Committee not later than 10 minutes after the official announcement of the results are made.

8.3.  A dispute committee shall consist of the organizing Chairperson, head of the referees and two (2) managers from other college who are not a party to the dispute.

8.4.  RM 150.00 will be charged for each protest.

8.5.  If there are any changes to the decision made, the RM 150.00 will be refunded; otherwise the Organizing Committee will retain it.

  1. Postponement

9.1.  The organizers hold the right to postpone a match or matches due to unforeseen circumstance.

9.2.  The postponed match will be played as soon as the organizer deems it fit and possible or an alternative table is available.

9.3.  No request for postponement by the participating teams will be entertained.

  1. Commencement of Matches

10.1.  All teams are required to report in 30 minutes before the game starts. Each team manager will be issued with the day’s fixtures for matches and the venue.

10.2.  During every single match, no grace period will be given. If any team/player fails to turn up when the match time starts, the match will be considered as a walkover and the opponent team will be declared the winner.

  1. Officials

11.1.  Match umpires will be from Asia Club pool centre.
