VALENTINE’S BOX DECORATING CONTEST

Dear Parents,

On Thursday, Feb 12, students will be celebrating Valentine’s Day in the classroom. As a way to collect goodies and cards, students are welcome to participate in the first Annual Fifth Grade Valentine’s Box Decorating Contest.

Students can get as creative as they wish! In the past, boxes have been made to look like animals, animated characters, giant hearts, and more. Students often find materials around the house such as old popcorn tins, shoeboxes, and wrapping paper. Keep in mind that the box needs to have an opening that is big enough to receive cards and goodies.

This project is to be completed at home and brought in on February 12th. If students don’t wish to participate, they may just want to bring in something to collect valentines (ex. paper bag). We will be passing out Valentine’s cards in our homeroom class, please be sure to bring a card for each student if you choose to pass out cards. There are 26 kids in our homeroom. It is not necessary to put each classmate’s name on each individual card you can just have your child sign their name.

On the day of the celebration, students will vote on two boxes: most creative and funniest. This is intended to be a fun project, not to get in the way of other work and activities. Good luck and enjoy!

Sincerely,

The Fifth Grade Team
