RIBBON CUTTING FOR NEW SOUTHEAST CLINIC

PHOENIX – The Phoenix VA Health Care Systemis proud to announce a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new Southeast VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic. On April 24, 2014 at 11:00 AM, the Phoenix VA Health Care System (PVAHCS) will hold a Ribbon Cutting ceremony for the new Southeast Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Gilbert, Arizona.

The clinic is the largest in the Southwest VA Health Care Network 18 which encompasses Arizona, New Mexico and West Texas. With 60,000 square feet of clinical space, PVAHCS will be able to house Primary Care, Radiology, Physical Rehabilitation, Dental, Laboratory, and Mental Health services. Veterans from the Southeast Phoenix metro area will enjoy a doubling in the size of their current 30,000 square foot clinic in Mesa, Arizona.

In addition to increasing the size of clinic space and services offered to Veterans, the clinic will pioneer new models of efficiency in its design. Health Care System Director, Sharon Helman said, “We are very excited to deliver healthcare in this new state of the art facility. In addition to the size and new services being added to the Southeast CBOC, new models of efficiency using Lean Thinking techniques will deliver patient centered, proactive and personalized healthcare.” Director Helman continued, “By using Lean Thinking models, our providers will now provide care with an on stage off stage model which will allow streamlined communication between physicians and nursing staff and care that is centered around the Veteran.”

The new CBOC will be located at the corner of Val Vista Drive and South Market Street in the bustling new commerce district of Gilbert. The Southeast CBOC currently handles approximately 10,000 outpatient visits annually and is projected to grow over the next ten years.
