Utilizing LIVE Images

This module explores the steps used to display LIVE images in your planogram.
Objectives:
/ Modifying the ITEMS worksheet to hold GTIN images in the Alternate Image field
/ Matching existing 10 digit UPCs to GTIN UPCs, then importing the GTIN formats into the ITEMS worksheet
/ Setting the path(s) to find LIVE images
/ Displaying LIVE images
/ Saving a section with GTIN UPCs
Several changes have been made requiring that steps be taken to allow you to utilize the new GTIN image formats that are being standardized over the next few years. The following is a summary of the steps you will have to make for LIVE images to be displayed on an Apollo planogram:
/ The new Alternate Image field will have to be added to your ITEMS: worksheet. This process will only have to be performed one time.
/ A change in the settings of Apollo will have to be made to instruct Apollo to look for images in the UPC or Alternate Image field. This process will only have to be performed one time.
/ Each planogram will need to have the new GTIN images matched to the existing UPCs in a section. This set of steps will have to be performed for each and every section that you wish to display using LIVE images. The quarterly LIVE Image CD will be needed for these steps.
/ Sections using the LIVE images based on the new GTIN format will have to be saved in the .XMZ format to preserve the data in the Alternate Image field. If the .XMZ or .XLM format is not used, you will lose the information in the Alternate Image field, thereby losing the GTIN information.

The Alternate Image Field

The Alternate Image field must be added to the ITEMS: worksheet one time. Once this field is in place, it will be used to store the new GTIN format for UPCs that match the existing 10 or 11 digit UPCs that you already have in your section.
Steps:
1. / Open the ITEMS: worksheet. This can be done from ANY section
2. / From the WORKSHEET menu, choose INSERT COLUMN...
3. / Choose the ALTERNATE IMAGE field and click on OK
4. / From the WORKSHEET menu, choose ARRANGE COLUMNS... and move the ALTERNATE IMAGE field to your desired location
5. / Save the SECTION so as to save the changes to your ITEMS: worksheet.
This set of steps need only to be performed one time.

Importing the GTIN Formatted UPCs

Apollo can only match UPCs to LIVE images if there is an EXACT match. Most of your current sections probably have 10 or 11 digit UPCs in place. The LIVE Image CD only has images named in the GTIN 14-digit format. For this reason, you will have to match your existing 10-11 digit UPCs to GTIN UPCs and place them in the ALTERNATE IMAGE field.
The steps below will have to be performed for every section you have if you wish to view those sections using LIVE Images.
1. / Open the section that you wish to update and display the ITEMS: worksheet.
2. / Copy the column of UPCs so that they are on the Windows clipboard. You can do this by simply dragging down across all the UPCs in the column.
3. / Open the UPC to GTIN Calcs.xls worksheet.
4. / Paste the copied UPCs into the indicated cell of the worksheet (C23).
5. / Copy the cells 2 columns over that now contain the GTIN equivalents of your copied UPCs (F23).
6. / Return to Apollo and select all the cells of the Alternate Image column
7. / Choose EDIT > PASTE or press CTRL + V on your keyboard.
8. / The GTIN UPCs appear in the Alternate Image Column (check to make sure that the GTIN UPC line up correctly with your old UPCs
9. / Save the section in either the .XML or XMZ format to save the GTIN UPCs for later use.
You now have the GTIN formatted UPCs in the ITEMS worksheet. They can now be used to display LIVE images in the current section.

Apollo Live Image Settings

Once you have your GTIN UPCs in your ITEMS: worksheet, there are three tabs that you should check in the Apollo SETUP dialog box. You can open the SETUP dialog box by choosing FILE>SETUP... from the Apollo menus.
Use the PATHS button to specify where your live images are located. /
Use the TYPES, ORDER button to make sure you have minimally Targa (*.1,*.1,*.3 UPC) selected in the Selected Image Type pane. /
Use the FILE LENGTH dropdown to specify Traditional, Long as the length of the UPCs. /
Use the SEARCH BY dropdown to specify ALT., UPC., ALIAS as the locations within the product fields to look for the UPC to be used for searching for images. /
Use the MERCH MAP button to Enable Merchandising Method Images. This allow you to locate images you may have that show items merchandised in Trays, Cases and Baskets (rare but possible). /

Once you have completed these configurations, the only setting that might change would be the location (PATHS) where you might download images or changes categories on the live image DVDs.
