Mission Statement: Promote the ideals of good sportsmanship, ethical behavior

and integrity by working with the Section staff, District/Area staff, community tennis associations, volunteers and local coordinators in order to: Promote and develop the growth of tennis programs in local communities, set specific participation goals for recruiting new and retaining current players in each of the adult, senior, super senior, super duper; Adult, senior and super senior mixed doubles divisions and the Combo

and Tri-Level leagues. Achieve 8% growth in the league program.

Meetings in 2011: Full committee meetings at MAS headquarters in Reston, VA

on 6-13-11, 10-18-11 and via conference call 11-7-11. Also, ten conference calls

were held with sub-committees for NTRP grievances and appeals during the year.

The calls consisted of the staff liaison and three available members of the committee. Also there were waiver requests voted on via email with the full committee’s participation.

Goals/Objectives/Schedule:

  1. Promote league participation within the section to mirror the face of America;

to promote formats of Combo, Tri/Quad-levels,Singles and Flex leagues.

  1. Assisted tournament desk at Mixed, Adult, Senior, Super Senior and Tri-level Championships. Lynn Duventre served as scorekeeper at 4 of the events.
  2. Budget reviewed and approved increasing expenditures for expanded amount of Adult teams and rapidly increasing Tri-level/Quad-level Section Championships.
  3. Forwarded 2012 MAS rule changes to the BOD- imposing roster limits, minimum match req. for local seasons, default procedures, league season overlap, etc.
  4. Forwarded nomination selection for the MAS League Coordinator of the Year.

Future agenda items to be addressed by the Committee:

  1. Major transition effective 2013 changing league names, age categories (18+, 40+, 55+) and play formats (adding 2 singles at 40+ level) by USTA National.
  2. Possible format change from Tri-Level to Quad-level in 2012.

Action items achieved in 2011:

1. Developed standardized local league rules format to service players, captains, local league coordinators and league administrators within the Mid-Atlantic Section to have unified rules being applied throughout all local leagues in all districts.
