This document will focus on three topics: Using the Registrar “Cart”, the Bidding Phase, and Drop/Add. Scroll down to find more information on a specific topic.
Using the Registrar “Cart”
The Cart is a feature that allows students to review current course offerings and place them into a hold area for later processing. The cart is available for all types of phases open in Registrar. The general procedure is to identify course offerings of interest, place them in the cart, remove them if desired, enter bid points (if in a bidding phase) and process the cart.
The Bidding Phase:
The appropriate actions are available for whatever phase is active. In this case, the phase is for bidding. Students review the available courses and either enter a bid and select the bid link, or select the cart link to move the course offering into the cart.
In this case, the student selected to place a bid in the bid box, but did not select to press the bid link.
The student subsequently selected the cart option on the first three course offerings listed.
The student then selected to View the Cart. The three course offerings selected for the cart appear. The student then enters the appropriate bid points. One point of note: Even though the student had selected to enter bid points in the previous screen and place the course offerings into the cart, the points are removed when viewing the cart. The student enters/modifies the points. The student also has the option to remove any item from the cart before processing. When satisfied, the student selects “Process Cart.”
The cart is processed. Any violations or anomalies based on the course rules are identified. In the case of warnings, the student is presented with a pop-up window that allows override.
Course offerings that have no course rule issues are processed. Students can clear the cart at this or any time to remove all entries in the cart.
Drop/Add:
Add/Drop cart functions work in the same manner as in a bidding phase. All available courses are listed for the active phase.
Students select the course offerings they desire to add/drop and select the cart link. If the student desires to remove a course offering placed in the cart, it can be accomplished on this screen by selecting the remove link.
Students select the View Cart link. From the cart, students can select to remove the course offerings. Students can process the course offerings individually by selecting the “add” link or simply select “Process Cart” to process all items in the cart.
After selecting to process the cart, the resultant display indicates all items processed and exceptions due to course rule violations or course section parameters.
Students can remove course offerings individually by selecting the remove link or select “Clear Cart.”
The My Bidding and Courses link displays the results of the course offerings processed through the cart.
