Issue:

You want to edit blocks with the In-Place Block Editor. However, when you double-clicked on the block, the Properties dialog box for the block was displayed instead.

In previous AutoCAD® releases, setting the BLOCKEDITLOCK system variable to "1" disabled the Block Editor and the In-Place Block Editor was used to edit the block instead.

In AutoCAD® 2007, if the Block Editor is disabled this way, double-clicking on the block will open the block properties instead of opening the In-Place Editor.

To use the In-Place Block Editor in AutoCAD 2007 with AutoCAD 2006 functionality, the Double-Click Action for the block needs to be edited. Follow these steps:

  1. At the command prompt, enter cui.
  2. In the Customize User Interface dialog box, click the Customize tab.
  3. On the Customize tab, under Customizations in All CUI Files, expand the Main CUI File > Double-Click Actions > Block.

 Double click actions > block .. drag button Edit block in place, janela abaixo, em all commands only. Aplicar

  1. Click on the "Edit Reference In-Place" action
  2. In the Properties section, edit the Macro entry as follows:
    $M=$(if,$(and,$(>,$(getvar,blockeditlock),0)),^C^C_refedit,^C^C_bedit)
  3. Click OK

Now, when you double-click on a block, the In-Place Block Editor will open instead of the Block Editor.
Note: The BLOCKEDITLOCK system variable must be set to 1. If the BLOCKEDITLOCK system variable is set to 0, double-clicking on a block will open the Block Editor.

AutoCAD: Using The Classic Layer Dialog Box

The newer versions of AutoCAD now have a new Palette based Layer Dialog (Strating in 2009). This will allow you to change anything and work in the background at the same time. This can be handy but what if you have issues and just want to old Dialog Box back. You can do this using a Variable.

How to turn on the classic Layer dialog
1.) Type LAYERDLGMODE and hit the <Enter> key
2.) Type 0 and hit the <Enter> key
Now your Dialog is set to use the classic version

LAYERDLGMODE = 0 Classic Mode

LAYERDLGMODE = 1 New Palette display

  • Stop and disable the Windows Presentation Foundation Font Cache:
  1. Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
  2. Scroll down to 'Windows Presentation Foundation Font Cache 3.0.0.0'.
  3. Right-click it and go into Properties.
  4. Stop the service.
