1. / Purpose of the Job
1.1 / To manage the Coach unit based at Walsall
1.2 / To closely liaise with the Coach division to ensure required standards are met
1.3 / To manage and control the provision of services for special events and rail replacement facilities
1.4 / To promote and expand private hire and contract business
2. / Key Accountabilities
2.1 / To manage the Coach unit based at Walsall
2.2 / To closely liaise with the key account holders within the Coach division to ensure that service specifications are consistently met
2.3 / To manage, control and coordinate shuttle services for sports and other special events, ensuring that all aspects of driving, supervision and ticket sales are covered
2.4 / To promote and expand private hire and contract business
2.5 / Have a excellent knowledge of legislation and ensure compliance with EU and Domestic Drivers Hours Regulations
2.6 / To monitor quality; driver performance, presentation and attitude, , driving standards, vehicle cleanliness etc.
2.7 / To ensure that all company procedures are adhered to
2.8 / To ensure that all financial returns and invoices are submitted in accordance with deadlines
2.9 / To effectively and efficiently communicate in a clear, precise and approachable manner with the Coach Division, Drivers, Traffic Offices and Engineering teams.
2.10 / To adhere to Heath and Safety legislation and any other relevant Acts or Regulations.
2.11 / Ensure that Drivers comply with Company Policies and Procedures at all times.
2.12 / To act as the key point of contact with Coach division, customers and contractors, attending meetings with same as required
2.13 / To ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and all other Company policies and procedures.
2.14 / To liaise with the Engineering team to ensure that maintenance and cleaning programmes are adhered to
2.15 / To ensure that all coaches are fully equipped with all required devices, decals, notices etc
2.16 / To ensure that all required vehicle certification (MOT, LOLER etc) is up to date
2.17 / To carry out driver coaching sessions following reported DriveCam and Traffilog events
2.18 / Carry out reliability checks of services to ensure the required standards of operation are maintained and documented as per procedures
2.19 / Oversee payroll compilation, and authorise all adjustments
2.20 / To conduct fact finding and disciplinary interviews as and when required, up to and including Level 2.
2.21 / To ensure that all driver licenses and DQC’s are regularly audited
2.22 / To undertake Drugs and Alcohol checks on staff as required
2.23 / To carry out speed checks on company sites and at other locations as necessary.
2.24 / To audit driver equipment such as spit kits, safety equipment etc
2.25 / Any other duties and responsibilities as required, to meet operational requirements.
3. / Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications Required
3.1 / Relevant operational experience in scheduled service environment.
3.2 / Holder of Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Passenger Transport Operations
3.3 / PCV Driving licence
3.4 / Fully conversant with EU and UK Domestic Driver’s Hours regulations
3.5 / Well developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to influence.
3.6 / Confidence in dealing with individuals at all levels of the organisation, and external organistaions
3.7 / Strong multi-tasking skills.
3.8 / Understanding of computer systems and good IT ability, and detailed knowledge of bespoke systems such as DriveCam, Traffilog, EP Morris, Grampian, Qlikview, Driver Hire, Bluebox etc
3.9 / Mental Health and Disability Awareness trained
3.10 / Conversant with company disciplinary and grievance procedures
4. / Health & Safety Responsibility
4.1 / To comply with health and safety instructions and directives issued by management.
4.2 / To use the appropriate safety equipment properly.
4.3 / To wear Personal Protective Equipment where applicable and report any loss.
4.4 / To refrain from the wilful misuse or interference with anything provided in the interests of health, safety and welfare.
4.5 / To refrain from any action that might endanger themselves, other employees, customers or members of the public.
4.6 / To ensure that all necessary safety precautions are taken and, if they are in a management or supervisory position ensure that instructions are provided.
4.7 / To report immediately any accidents, incidents or near misses to your line manager as soon as possible and always within 24 hours. This should include both personal injury and vehicle damage.
4.8 / To attend and cooperate in any investigation following an incident as required.
4.9 / To cooperate with your employer in attending and actively participating in any health and safety related training courses as required.
4.10 / To report immediately any hazard, faulty equipment or health and safety concern to your line manager and ensure action is taken to make the hazard safe i.e. fencing them off, using signs etc.
4.11 / To be aware of your personal security and the security of your vehicle or place of work.
5. / Safety Critical
5.1 / To comply with all company policies including the Safety and Environmental Policy Statements, Drugs and Alcohol Policy, Speeding Policy.
5.2 / To report all accidents, unsafe acts and conditions to the line manager.
5.3 / To be aware of the fire and emergency arrangements for all locations visited.
5.4 / To set an example by carrying out duties in a safe manner and ensuring that they do not put themselves or others at risk.
