Cleaning Guide

(*Special note: Were noted using Spray Nine, if you have a newer boat use Fantastic instead of Spray Nine because Spray Nine will remove the protective coating on your upholstery from the factory. When using Spray Nine on older boats, it is important to put 303 Protectant back on to add the protective coating against fading and cracking)

Outside:

*Use Meguiar’s Boat/RV Gel Wash wash to wash off all dirt.

*If any stains remain i.e. bugs/tar, Spray on Spray Nine and wipe off with a towel.

*For any marks on rub-rail or boat from bumpers or buoy’s use Acetone (nail polish remover). Test decals first to make sure they don’t come off. Also do not use Acetone on any painted surfaces i.e. tower, and also do not use Acetone on any of your warning sticker’s because Acetone will remove them. Acetone will not hurt gel coat. Put alittle Acetone on a rag and wipe marks off.

*Oxidation: After washing use Meguiar’s Heavy Duty Oxidation Remover. Use a buffer if you have one available, if not it will be a lot of elbow work but work it in like you would wax. Some color off your boat will transfer to the cloth. Let dry and wipe off. If oxidation has been removed use Megiuar’s One Step Cleaner/Wax. For best results wax your boat every 4 weeks.

If oxidation is still present, you will need to wet sand and buff the boat. This will affect decals and or pin striping.

Teak:

*Spray lightly with a hose. Spray Spray Nine (You can use Spray Nine on your teak board whether your boat is new or old) all over and let sit for 10 minutes. Scrub with a metal brush. If oil is still present, repeat step one. For boards that oil has a thick layer or has not been removed in a while, you may have to lightly sand. Sanding is not recommended because ever time it takes more layers away from your board and over time it will thin out. Once oil is off spray teak with 1 part bleach/4 parts water. Once dry, coat with StarbriteTeak Oil. Set out side in the sun to dry. Once dry repeat oil steps until board has a nice shine. Your teak board should be stripped and refinished every year. If you get scratches in it during the year, cover with 1 coat of oil to keep that area from mildewing or discoloring.

Inside:

Lightly wet upholstery. Spray top/bottom/sides with Spray Nine. Make sure and use the mist and cover everything. Don’t use stream and just a couple squirts because it will spot. Let sit for 2-3 minutes and scrub off with a medium stiffness brush. If any stains persist or any mildew is still in the threads, lightly spray seats (top/bottom/sides) with 1 part bleach/4 parts water. Let sit for 5 minutes and then hose off. If there are any stubborn stains use Acetone. Apply a small amount to a rag and wipe area. (Use Acetone sparingly and make sure to put 303 Protectant back on because Acetone strips away your seat protectant and dries out the upholstery if a protectant is not put back on.) If stain is still there you can try putting straight bleach on it and setting it in the sun. If that does not work, your guess is as good as mine!!! I have only found stains from gloves and tanning lotion that would not come out. Once you have done all upholstery, you can now start on the carpet. Jack the front of your boat up as far as it will go so the water drains to the back. Pull out all plugs. If there are any visible stains spray with Spray Nine, any visible grease/oil stains, spray with Greez-Off. Start in the front and with your hose slowly hose down the carpet. Work your way to the back making sure to get compartments and under seats. Hose off until water running off turns clear. Then using a wet/dry vac, vacuum all carpet and compartments. When vacuuming, do so against the grain of the carpet to pull it back up. Put out in the sun to dry.

Once dry, use 303 Protectant on all upholstery/dash/windshield frame. Make sure it is covered well because it has your UV protectant to help prevent seats from fading and cracking. Set out in sun to dry.

*Windshield, the best and easiest to clean is with a damp towel and a dry towel. Wipe down part with the damp towel and immediately dry off with dry towel.
