Coach Code of Conduct

Texas USA Wrestling-Rules and Regulations for Conduct: All members of official Texas USA Wrestling delegations shall be subject to the following rules and regulations for conduct as required by Texas USA Wrestling. Furthermore, they will be subject to all additional bylaws, policies, and regulations as set forth by USAW.

  1. General Behavior: All delegation members shall conduct themselves in conformity with the best traditions of Texas USA Wrestling and in such a manner to bring credit and honor to themselves, their teammates, USAW, and the United States of America.
  2. All delegation members shall maintain high standards of moral and ethical conduct: which includes self-control and responsible behavior, consideration for others physical and emotional well being, and courtesy and good manners in public places, at competitions, and while traveling.
  3. The unlawful use or possession of: alcohol, illegal drugs, or USOC or USAW banned substances are strictly forbidden. The following additional regulations apply to all USAW age group teams, including Kid, Cadet, Junior, Women.
  4. The possession or use of tobacco in any form is forbidden.
  5. Profanity is not permitted or tolerated.
  6. The possession of pornography is prohibited.
  7. The team leader will determine curfew hours and whereabouts during free time.
  8. All practices, meals, meetings, competitions, and cultural events must be attended unless your team leader excuses you.
  9. Any member of the delegation committing a criminal act while representing USA Wrestling or Texas USA Wrestling at any competition and/or clinic or camp events shall be liable to immediate dismissal.
  10. All participants shall abide by all applicable rules at training camps and shall adhere to the training program and schedule.
  11. Competitors, coaches and team leaders shall maintain exemplary behavior, and abide by the rules of fair play in all events sanctioned by USA Wrestling or Texas USA Wrestling.
  12. Competitors will be responsible for maintaining minimum weight requirements as established by the coaching staff and to notify the coaches in a timely many of any extenuating circumstances which may affect his ability to make weight. The individual competitor is solely responsible to make the weight category on all applicable competition days for that weight class which the competitor is registered for.
  13. All members shall fully abide by the rules of the local host or local organizing committee.
  14. All members fully understand that they will be financially responsible for damages deemed to be wantonly and willfully executed on their part, and may be subject to further action from USAW or Texas USA Wrestling.
  15. All members shall be responsible for their personal belongings at all times and will assist in maintaining the cleanliness, safety and security of their living quarters assigned for private and general use.
  16. All members shall maintain dignity at the opening, closing, and awards ceremonies, and accept any consequences for inappropriate behavior at these events.
  1. Delegation Apparel:
  2. Members of the official delegation shall consider the apparel issued to them by Texas USA Wrestling as their official apparel from the date of issue until the conclusion of the competition.
  3. Articles of clothing designated as “official” must be worn by all delegation members at all competitions and official team functions, unless specific permission in writing is granted by the Team Leader to allow for alternative clothing attire.
  4. Delegation members are responsible for wearing the proper apparel issued by Texas USA Wrestling and to maintain it in good repair.

Disciplinary Procedures: The Team Leader and Head Coach, along with any members of the executive board of Texas USA Wrestling traveling with the delegation shall determine appropriate disciplinary actions for violations of the Code of Conduct by a delegate. Actions taken are immediate, and are not subject to review, except by the Texas USA Board of Directors at a regularly scheduled meeting. Possible disciplinary actions could be, but are not restricted to the following:

Expulsion from the delegation, being sent home immediately via CommercialBus Lines at the delegate’s expense, with no refund of any portion of the trip fee; regardless of whether instruction, training, competition, has taken place or not. Parent or guardian of the delegate may arrange for alternative transportation home at their own expense. In any case, the parent or guardian of the delegate would be contacted prior to the scheduled departure of the delegate.
  3. Deny funding thru the Texas USA Work for funds program.
  4. Restrict to room.
  5. Required to perform certain tasks, such as formal written and/or oral apology or restitution of damages.
  6. Loss of privileges to participate in future competitions, camps, or clinics.
  7. Fines, penalties, and/or reimbursement of expenditures to Texas USA Wrestling.
