UpperSchool Guidance

The start of the new school year often begins with sheer excitement and nervous anticipation. Our fifth graders transitioned from LowerSchool to UpperSchool rather smoothly. The fifth graders adjusted to their new environs, changing classes and having ten different teachers rather well. Way to go 5th grade!

We were delighted to welcome new students to OHA. Incoming students include fifth graders: Alexa Cassino, Lynx Cassino, Allison Chiarini, Mac Horowitz, Samantha Kanevsky, Aditya Vyas and Catherine Zhang. Sixth graders: Billy Attardi, Luke DelPriore, Ronan Downie, Adam Holden, Rahul Kavuru and Wyatt Slagle. Seventh graders:Dario DelPriore, Joan Hager, Michaela Horowitz, Elizabeth Lee and Julia Nappi.

Eighth grader: Katie Freeman.

Prior to the start of the school year, the newest members of our OHA family were paired with an OHA buddy to answer questionsand connect before school started. Several meet and greets occurred this summer including a pool party. Special thanks to Isabella Incognito, Kevin Kinsella, Sara Confortini, Tony DeJohn, Oliver Olson, Lauren Soler, Ryan Daniels, Samantha Garber, Justin Weber, Shane Gazdus, Alexey Stout, Brian Walsh, Dan Mooney, Andrew Ferguson, Ansh Kulkarni, Steven Sharpe, Jordan Codispoti, Skylar Domanski, Kara Pietrowicz, Caitlin Antonio, Hope Scafaria, Jason Wang and Christopher Misson for serving in this capacity.

Our Character Counts theme for 2015-2016 school year is Golden Rule! Mr. Pacelli and Miss Murray introduced our campaign during upper school assemblies with emphasis placed on students treating one another as they would like to be treated. In addition, Mr. Pacelli reviewed the OHA Code of Respect in a Community of Kindness.

Golden Rule ties into the Six Pillars of Good Character which is an integral component of the OHA philosophy and incorporated into ourall phases of our curriculum. The Six Pillars of Good Character are Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship. Monthly initiatives at each grade level will bedelivered to students to reinforce thesecharacter traits throughout the year.
