SENIOR FOCUS OBJECTIVE:

BGHS created Senior College Focus, a program that guides Bolsa Grande High School Seniors through the year long process of applying to and getting accepted at 4-year colleges (i.e. expectations, commitment, college application support, tracking and program review components). In 2014, 96% of program eligible seniors had applied with 77% accepted to a four-year college compared to the data from 2009, 38% of students at BGHS were eligible to attend a four-year college.

Through the efforts of teachers and staff that participate in the Senior College Focus Program, we are proud to announce, Bolsa Grande High School (BGHS) is the recipient of the California Gold Ribbon Schools Award. In addition, California Department of Education awarded BGHS the "Golden Bell Award". 250 applications were submitted and we won highlighting the unique, Senior Focus program here on campus.

Our goal is to help you achieve your dream of attending a 4 year college next year!

Methods of Evaluation: class work/homework, essays and projects

Grading Scale:

Formative Assessments are 40% of the total grade

These will include class work and homework

Summative Assessments are 60% of the total grade

These will include essays and projects

A=89.5-100%, B=79.5-89.4%, C=69.5-79.4%, D=59.5-69.4%, F=0-59.4

Absences: Students are responsible for making up both class work and homework given on the days missed. Remember an absence from class doesn’t excuse anyone from completing assignments or taking tests. Students will have one day to make up work each day absent from class.

Late Work: The biggest factor in contributing to low grades is a failure to complete the given assignment on time or at all. In order to teach the importance of completing given work by appropriate deadlines, there will be no late work accepted.

Checking Aeries weekly is a great idea! Grades should not be a surprise.

Students will be expected to:

Be on time and attend regularly.

Treat others with respect,

Do neat and careful work,

Give their best effort

Extra Help: Students are encouraged to seek out extra help at any time. Extra support is available after school if needed.
