Class Syllabus
Goals:In this class we will focus on the essential questions and big ideas that are important for Upper School Math. We will review prior concepts while expanding on the curriculumcovered in Upper School Mathematics.
Class Behavior:Behavior is a very important aspect of this classroom. Behavior is the first thing that can be controlled by you, the student. You choose the outcome of your attitude each day, and those choices will be reflected by your grade. This is something we all have control over. You all know how to behave.
Classroom Rules:All school rules apply for the classroom.

Grading Policy:You have full control of the outcome of your grade.
-Daily Grades(Could be one or more items listed per day)
- Prepared with Notebook and Student Planner
- Participation in Projects/Presentations as individual or groups
- Warm-up and other collected graded class work
- Collected Graded Homework
- Problem of the Week assignments
- Class work or Homework that will be collected and graded for completeness/effort
-Graded Assessments
- Pop Quizzes (No more than 5 pts. Max)
- Announced Class Projects
- Announced Assessments (Quizzes, Quests, Tests)
- See Weekly Sheets for postings of major assessments
- I have the right to change the date of an assessment, but I will announce the change.
-Grade is determined on a points system:
-Final grades are an average of three academic trimesters as defined by the school curriculum
Cheating: Cheating will not be tolerated. If you are caught cheating on any graded material you will receive a zero, your parent/guardian(s) will be contacted, and disciplinary action will be taken.
Missed Class or Assignment:If you are absent from class, it is your responsibility to complete all assignments (class work, homework, assessments, etc) that you have missed. Please make sure you check the website.
-If you miss an announced assessment you are expected to be prepared to next opportunity in class, extension of make-up can be discussed with Mr. Edleman
-If assignment is prior to the interim period, you have until the interim period to make it up.
-If assignment is between interim period and the close of the trimester, you have until 3 days before the end of the trimester to make it up.
Procedures and Expectations:The following are a list of expectations for our classroom.
Please note that most of these procedures are set by the school’s standards.
Leaving the Classroom Policy: Students should make an effort to use the restroom or visit their locker in between class periods. Students must ask for permission to leave the classroom at any time.
Students Belongings: Students should come to class with something to write with, notebook, S.S.R. book and textbook. The teacher may announce days in which students will not need their textbook.
Food/Drink: No food will be allowed in classroom during allotted class time. Scheduled snack times and special occasions may bring cause for food to be in the classroom.
Technology:The following are the class rules on the use of technology. Please note theformal regulations in the student handbook.
Calculators: Students will be provided with calculators when needed in the classroom.
Computer Usage:Appropriateuses of the computers in the classroom and computer labs are expected.
Cell phone:Students are not permitted to have their cell phones out during the school day.
Mr. Edleman has the right to change these expectations as seen fit.
