SANA has beenworking for YOU in 2014!
- Created Soy Facts: Illustrated Infographics to Help Bust Myths,seven illustrated graphics and text on breast cancer, men’s health, allergies, thyroid, phytoestrogen, package labeling, and soymilk along with scientific evidence for the claims.
- Widely distributed these myth busting infographics and blogs through active engagement of consumers, media and dietitians on SANA’s Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram channels. Increased Facebook likes to 12,150 in 2014 from 2,000 in 2012.
- Effectively managed and prepared standby statements for such negative research articles as: 1) Soy infant formula and autism, 2) Higher isoflavone intake have larger impact on fertility/infertility based on Adventist Health Study, 3) Breast Cancer Research relating soy protein and isoflavones to gene expression but not to tumor growth.
- Reached bloggers, media and registered dietitians with study share emails that explains the latest research, such as:
- Soy Helps Reduce Risk of Breast Cancer
- Soy Fiber Helps with Weight Loss, Improves Cholesterol Levels
- Soyfood Consumption Found to Help Control Heart Disease, Diabetes Risk Factors
- Study Shows Promise in Soyfoods’ Role in Sustaining Kidney Function
- Celebrated Heart Health Month with heart health facts infographicand newly updated protein content chartin February.
- Partnered with WIC group to distribute one-pager on new WIC rulesand included soymilk and tofu brands forstate and local WIC agencies.
- Engaged dietitians/physical trainersat sessions and booths atSports, Cardiovascular, & Wellness Nutrition Symposium and theNational Strength Conditioning Association Personal Trainer Conference.
- Sponsored retailfood with soy sales report and released findings in press release, “Consumer Demand for Protein Leads Soyfoods Sales to $4.5 Billion.”
- Commented on FDA’s proposed Nutrition Facts Panel, gave oral commentsand submitted sustainability report& terminology changes to Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee.
- Partnered with leading food retailers including Publix, Albertson’s, Stop and Shop, Price Chopper, Save Smart, Giant, Meijer, Kroger, Hy-Vee, Wegmans, and Hannaford brands to promote soyfoodsduring April, National Soyfoods Month.
- Released articles throughout the year: “Manage Hunger with Wholesome Foods”, "Good-for-You Grilling Ideas", "Easy Back-to-School Meals", and “Simple Swaps for Healthier Holidays” which have reached a print impressions of more than 9.2 million. This coverage encapsulates readers from 228 different newspapers and magazines throughout the country.
Membership Dues Instructions
- For each $1,000,000 in sales, add $700 to the base fee listed below. For example, a company that sells $3,000,000 in soyfoods would add $1,400 to the base fee of $1,000 for a total dues fee of $2,400.
- All dues are due by December 31st of each year.
- All dues will be held confidential, known by only the SANA bookkeeper, and never appear in print.
- Member companies are on the honor basis for reporting gross sales numbers.
- Only the value of the edible soy related products, supplies, or services within a company will be considered for dues.
