“Motherhood Equals Life”

Psalm 139:13-17

I.  Because God is the One who controls life and purpose, He is sovereign over life.

A.  God is the one who gives life, forms life, and takes life.

B.  Children are a work of God, and they should be recognized as such.

“Mother”

·  one who bears the relation of a mother

The word “mother”, in Biblical contexts referring to physical human reproduction, always refers to one who has procreated or formed another human individual, a separate and distinct individual from the mother herself. A woman who has conceived, even if the child is not yet born and even if it dies before birth, is a “mother.”

(Genesis 2:7; Exodus 4:11; Judges 13:6-7, 16:17; Job 10:8-12; Psalm 22:9-10, 58:3; Isaiah 49:1, 5; Jeremiah 1:4-5; Luke 1:15; Galatians 1:15)

II.  Because God gives purpose, and has a plan for every child in the womb, motherhood is essential.

1. Because God is the giver of life, motherhood is extraordinary.

2. Because children are sacred before they are even born, motherhood is a sacred task.

3. Because God gives purpose, and has a plan for every child in the womb, motherhood is critical.

(Judges 13:6-7, 16:17; Psalm 22:9-10, 58:3; Isaiah 49:1, 5; Jeremiah 1:4-5; Luke 1:15; Galatians 1:15)
