Memo # 1 (Home) 304-472-2476 (School) 304- 472-1520 extension 3305

Updates and Organization Information

Parent memos: I will be sending you memos that look like this during the school year. Please allow your child to keep all parent memos in the mathematics section of his/her binder.

Notebook/binder: The mathematics section should contain everything listed here.

Class rules, homework suggestions, and parent memos – These are in the plastic page protector.

Fast Fives for the week – These are collected on Fridays.

Factor Table from 1 to 100

Fast Fives: These are practice problems that are graded based on whether or not your child attempted to do these during the warm-up time at the beginning of class. Students are then expected to take notes, fix mistakes, and ask questions about the problems when we discuss these in class.

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE OUT ANY PAPERS FROM YOUR CHILD’S BINDER. Instead, help him/her organize the papers using the dividers provided for each subject.

Each teacher will let your child know when papers can safely be removed from the binder.

Mathematics books are to be kept at home to use for homework. Your child should have already brought this book home the second week of school. We have an extra set to use in class. Mathematics grade reports: These are computer printouts that show grades for each assignment and a list of any work your child has not completed. I will send grade reports home once every two weeks.NAmeans your child did not complete and/or turn in the work. This is counted as a grade of zero unless the work is completed. Make-up work should always be completed promptly.

The first mathematics grade report was sent home on September 8th. A midterm report which shows the grade for all your child’s classes will be sent home soon after September 14th. The next mathematics grade report will be sent on September 22nd

Agendas: Your child needs to fill out every box in his/her agenda every day. When your child returns to school from being absent, he/she needs to complete the agenda for the days that he/she was absent. This is the first step in completing make-up work. He/she should also check with each teacher about what needs to be done.

LiveGrades – Parents: We have an internet account for you to receive school information on-line. You can check your child’s current grades for all classes any time you wish. The username and password for your parent account was sent home August 25, 2016 with yourchild. He/she should be able to help you because my students have already set up and used their own accounts during math class. Sign intoLiveGrades at
