UP TO YEAR 8 SCHOOL GOLF TOURNAMENTS

Golf Southland, invite your school to participate in the Town Zone tournament to be held at the

“GREENACRES GOLF COURSE”

Monday 10th November 2014

Entry Fee $20 per team. ($5 per player)

Closing date for entries Monday 5th November

Reserve Date: Monday 17th November

This series of tournaments provides your children with an opportunity to participate in the game of golf in a format that they will find both competitive and fun. The teams of four children will play up to seven holes of ambrose golf as well as participating in a number of skills based golfing activities which includes Chipping, Putting, Driving and Chuck and Putt.

You may enter as many teams of four children as you wish. To ensure team equity we have a number of rules that ensure boys and girls get equal opportunities to participate in this competition regardless of age. Team entries will be accepted under the following conditions.

·  Every team must have their own individual team manager for the day.

(This is for safety reasons and their own protection.)

·  Each team from mixed gender schools must include one girl, and or one boy.

·  Teams may be a mix of up to year 8 children or Up to year 6 only

·  All mixed gender teams up to year 8 will compete for the “Southland Primary Schools Golf Tournament” trophy at the final competition held at Drummond Golf Course.

·  There will be a trophy for up to year 8 mixed gender teams and a trophy for up to year 6 mixed gender teams.

·  Teams may only win one prize at each event.

·  Single gender schools may enter teams into the competition however they will not be able to win the major zone prizes and a limited number of teams will be able to win selection through to the “Southland Primary Schools Golf Tournament Trophy” event.

All schools in your region have been invited to participate in the tournament and are guaranteed at least two team entries. In the unlikely situation that entries exceed expectations schools with more than two teams entered will be balloted out first. To ensure a fair representation of schools from each area progress through to the Southland Primary Schools Golf Tournament trophy final.

POSTPONEMENT

The tournament will only be postponed if weather conditions make it dangerous for children to be exposed to the elements. Continuous rain or possible lightning and thunder would be weather deemed to be dangerous. The possibility of showers during the day would not see the tournament postponed. We will be guided by relevant weather forecasts and conditions leading up to the date of the tournament and the postponement will be broadcast on Classic Hits, MoreFM and Hokonui Gold from 7.30am.

ENTRIES

Entry Form attached. Please send your schools entries to us by the closing date stated above.

We look forward to your school participating in this exciting sporting initiative. We know the format is successful as the tournament series held over the past years has been an outstanding success.

If your school is involved with other activities on the date of the zone tournament please let us know as we will try to accommodate your school in one of the other zones.

We advise that your students entering these tournaments should have at least some experience playing golf. We would like to encourage juniors to have as much fun as possible and we find giving them some experience before they come to this day will achieve this.

If your school would like coaching prior to the tournament please contact me as soon as possible to arrange a suitable time.

Yours sincerely
