A Meeting of the UNC Finance Committee was held on Thursday 17th May 2018 in the

Plains Farm WMC. An apologywas received from our Senior Vice-President Mr P Shergold, all other Officers were in attendance.

Meeting opened at 7.30pm with Mr J Thompson in the Chair.

No. 1. Financial Update.

(a). A comprehensive breakdown of the spares was issued to all present.

(b). A breakdown of diesel costs. The cost of diesel is now at a three year high. Average increase at the present moment of 5-6p. per litre more than last year

(c).Due to the weather conditions experienced earlier in the Season we are approx. £30k income down in comparison to 2017.

It was unanimously agreed that a full review of costings will take place before the young bird season commences.

(d) Stray Birdage

It was unanimously agreed that any surplus monies should not be given back this year. It was agreed that the cost for 2019 should be fully reviewed.

No. 2 Any Other Business

(a)NEHU 2018 Races. The Secretaryhighlighted that there is only one NEHU Classic race this year i.e. Roye, all the other races are NEHU Open Races. The NEHU have agreed to waiver the cost of 2p per bird from Eastbourne.

(b)The Secretary informed the committee that the A1 is closed on a night for 4 weeks. The diversion will enhance driving time for all race points South of Worksop by approx..11/2 to 2 hours. This means that if required we will not be able to liberate from Burbure on the Friday, it also means that we would not make Chelmsford on June 2nd. After a discussion it was agreed that we will swap race points with Peterborough 16th June. (Hopefully Huntingdon race point will be available. Confirmation will be given early next week.

(c)Convoyers

It was agreed that Mr P Maw will remain in the position of Convoyer, until the next meeting, where the position will be mutually reviewed.

(d)After much discussion regarding the Eastbourne National. It was proposed by Northumberland Federation in writing and endorsed by the committee that Federations be given the chance to vote as to where they would like to go for the second National i.e. Eastbourne or Maidstone Lakes, due to the volatile weather conditions. The voting by each Federation to forwarded to the UNC Secretary within the next 21days.

(e)The Secretary informed the delegates of the great difficulty in obtaining drivers, at least four have left already. The fact that due to losing two inland races, which are now going to take place on the same weekend as Roye, Bourges and Reims. It was agreed that co-operation from Clubs/Feds must be given to help this situation i.e. less pick-ups.

(f)Letters of complaint were received from Houghton, East Cleveland and Teesside Federation regarding the transport of their birds. It was agreed that no one could have foreseen the problems that arose from only having three races upto and including Chelmsford. Every effort is been made to transport the pigeons in the most economical and efficient way. Meeting Closed at 9.10pm.
