A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of William R. "Bill" Layton.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to William R. "Bill" Layton, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, William R. "Bill" Layton was born on April 12, 1919, a native of Garrard County, Kentucky, and he traversed these earthly bounds on February 4, 2002; and

WHEREAS, William R. "Bill" Layton was the loving son of the late Jesse W. Layton and Osie Calico Layton; he was the loving brother of two brothers, Harold Layton and Lewis Layton, and the loving brother of a sister, Gladys Rogers, all of Lancaster; he was the devoted husband of Frances Fisher Layton, and the loving father of a son, David Layton of Lancaster, and a daughter, Sheila Ann Leonard of Danville, and he was the proud grandfather of two grandchildren and a great-grandchild; and

WHEREAS, William R. "Bill" Layton was a 1938 graduate of Buckeye High School, he was a dedicated member of the Republican Party, and he served as Garrard County clerk for 32 years, and he also was a retired cattle and tobacco farmer; and

WHEREAS, William R. "Bill" Layton was an esteemed member of the Garrard County community where he was a member of Lancaster Baptist Church, he was a Mason and Shriner and past president of the Wilderness Shrine Club; he served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, and he was a member of the Lancaster American Legion post; and

WHEREAS, the passing of William R. "Bill" Layton has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives does hereby express its utter sense of bereavement upon the passing of William R. "Bill" Layton, and extends to his family and many friends its most profound and deepest sympathy.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of William R. "Bill" Layton.

Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit copies of this Resolution to Mrs. Frances Fisher Layton, 208 Maplewood Drive, Lancaster, Kentucky 40444; to Mr. Harold Layton, 413 Danville Street, Lancaster, Kentucky 40444; to Mr. Lewis Layton, Daly Court, Lancaster, Kentucky 40444; and to Mrs. Gladys Rogers, c/o Buddy Rogers, 1354 Perry Rogers Road, Lancaster, Kentucky 40444.
