A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in honor of Kentucky State Trooper Rick Conn for his bravery and wishing him a speedy recovery.
WHEREAS, Kentucky State Trooper Rick Conn has been employed with the Kentucky State Police for nine years, and he has been assigned to Kentucky State Police Post 9 in Pikeville, Floyd County, Kentucky since 1996; and
WHEREAS, Kentucky State Trooper Rick Conn was called to duty on November 8, 2004 during the evacuation of residents at the scene of a suspected natural gas explosion in the community of Ivel in Floyd County; and
WHEREAS, although Kentucky State Trooper Rick Conn received second-and third-degree burns on his hands and face during the rescue, he assisted a mother who was attempting to remove her child from her residence; he successfully moved the child to safety and returned to assist the mother, after which time he collapsed from his injuries; and
WHEREAS, Kentucky State Trooper Rick Conn was admitted to the burn unit of the Cabell-Huntington Hospital in West Virginia, and he is now at home recuperating from his injuries; and
WHEREAS, Kentucky State Trooper Rick Conn is a dedicated law enforcement officer, and he has served as a source of strength and encouragement to others;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives is proud and honored to recognize Kentucky State Trooper Rick Conn for his courage and heroism, and we wish him a very speedy recovery from his injuries.
Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Kentucky State Trooper Rick Conn.
Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Kentucky State Trooper Rick Conn, 45 Peach Street, Ivel, Kentucky 41642.
