WOOD WINDOW ALLIANCEGOES FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH AS IT WELCOMES THREENEW MEMBERS

The Wood Window Alliance ( is proud to welcome James Latham Group, Timbmet and Compass Forest Products Ltd to the Alliance. They join an expanding list of leading names to support the work of the campaign to promote high quality wood windows as the low carbon, energy efficient, sustainable and long lasting option.Recognition of the campaign from such reputableorganisations highlights the growing support in the timber industry for the Wood Window Alliance.

So far 2010 has been a busy year for the campaign which recently launched an eight minute film, ‘Wood Windows CO2t Less’.Earlier this year results of an Imperial College London research studydemonstrated that windows made to Wood Window Alliance standards have a Service Life of at least 60 years, giving them a lower Whole Life Cost over the life of a building than PVC-U windows. This complemented earlier research by Davis Langdon, showing that Wood Window Alliance windows are not just ‘low carbon’ – but that the frames are actually CO2-negative. The film, available to view at all this togetherto explain how to specify wood windows that are longer lasting, better value and better for the environment.

Campaign Chairman Sean Parnaby comments: “I am delighted to welcome three such established names within the industry to the Alliance. Gaining support from such prestigious timber suppliers is a good indication of the growing strength of our campaign and its value to the wider timber industry. I look forward to welcoming them at our next meeting.”

The WWA was launched in September 2007 and is a real breakthrough for the wood window industry in the UK. • Meet the performance standards for wind and weather resistance of BS 6375 Part 1
  • Meet the minimum performance standards for operational aspects of BS 6375 Part 2, or equivalent standards from other countries

  • Are made using timber that is independently certified as legal and sustainable by one of the schemes recognised by CPET:

• FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)

• PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification)
