A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of John W. "Jack" McNeill, Jr.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to John W. "Jack" McNeill, Jr., and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, John W. "Jack" McNeill, Jr. was born on July 5, 1915, a native of Ragland, Alabama, and longtime resident of Maysville, Mason County, Kentucky, and he traversed these earthly bounds on January 11, 2002; and

WHEREAS, John W. "Jack" McNeill, Jr. was the loving son of the late John Worthy McNeill and Mary Schmidt McNeill; he was the devoted husband of the late Margaret Clarke McNeill, and he also was preceded in death by a grandson, Winn McNeill; he was the loving father of two sons, John W. McNeill III and William C. McNeill, both of Maysville, and two daughters, Mary Muse of Maysville and Kathryn Muse of Lexington, and he was the proud grandfather of Margaret Denham, Owen McNeill, Barbara Johansson, Richard Buckley, Jack Muse, Weezie Muse, Laura McNeill and Andrew McNeill, and two great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Benjamin Buckley; and

WHEREAS, in 1918 John W. "Jack" McNeill, Jr. moved to Maysville with his parents who became partners in the Maysville Lumber Company, and in 1925 it became McNeill Lumber Company; during World War II, the company contributed to the war effort by manufacturing pallets and wood boxes for shipping aircraft parts, and from 1945 until 1951 the company manufactured furniture; and

WHEREAS, John W. "Jack" McNeill, Jr. was an esteemed member of the Maysville community where he was a member of the Maysville Country Club and an avid golfer, he was a former director of the Security Bank and Trust Company, and he was also a director of the Mason County Building and Loan Company; and

WHEREAS, John W "Jack" McNeill, Jr. was a devout member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as deacon and trustee, and where his funeral service was held on January 15, 2002, with burial in the Maysville Cemetery; and

WHEREAS, the passing of John W. "Jack" McNeill, Jr. has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. This honorable body does hereby express its utter sense of bereavement upon the passing of John W. "Jack" McNeill, Jr., and extends to his family and many friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of John W. "Jack" McNeill, Jr.

Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mr. John W. McNeill III, 1055 Jersey Ridge Road, Maysville, Kentucky 41056.
