UNIVERSITY RING SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION/NOMINATION – August 2015

Texas A&M University-Kingsville, through Balfour Company, will provide one official class ring to a graduating senior who has excelled in leadership activities, positively impacted the campus and/or the community at-large, and overcome educational and/or financial challenges while in school. To be considered, the applicant must be a graduating SENIOR in August 2015, submit an OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT, and provide documentation, which addresses the criteria listed on this application. Faculty/Staff may nominate students by attaching a nomination letter to this application and giving it to the graduating senior, who must then complete the application and turn it in to the Office of Student Activities located in the Memorial Student Union Building Room 301 no later than 5:00 p.m.,Thursday, July 30, 2015.

Selection Criteria:

Please respond to the following by typing your documentation on a separate sheet of paper, Include your name on every page and all documentation attached to this application.

Leadership:

List in bullet form all the leadership positions you have held at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, e.g., student organizations, committees, presentations, etc. Indicate how these positions or presentations contributed to your professional development as a leader. Limit your answers to a half page, double spaced. (20 points)

Campus and Community Service:

How you have positively impacted the campus and community at-large by your involvement? How were you involved? Provide examples. Limit your answers to a half page, double spaced. (20 points)

Letters of Recommendations:

Attach two letters of recommendations from faculty/staff members who can attest to your character. If you are nominated, the nomination letter will count as a letter of recommendation. (20 points)

Challenges While in School:

Explain any challenges (including financial) that you experienced in college, how you resolved them, and how these experiences impacted your college life. Limit you answers to a half-page, double-spaced. (20 points)

Honors and Awards:

List in bullet form any honors and/or awards received while in college, e.g., Who’s Who, Deans List, etc. (10 points)

Other:

Provide other pertinent information that will assist the committee in deciding why you should be awarded the class ring. Limit your reply to a half page, double spaced. (10 points)

Note: Please attach statements on: Leadership, Campus and Community Service, Challenges While in School, and other. Also, include Letters of Recommendation, transcript, and list of Honors and Awards. Excluding letters of recommendation and transcript, all narrative information submitted should not exceed three double-spaced pages. Completed applications must be in by 5:00 p.m., Thursday, July 30, 2015 in the Office of Student Activities located in the Memorial Student Union Building, RM. #301
