  1. Nominees should fill in sections 1 – 5 of the nomination form, attach a summary CV (1 x A4 page) and pass to their Head of Department/School for completion of section 6.
  1. The form and CV should then be forwarded to the Dean who, with the assistance of the Faculty Research Director, will rank and award their Faculty’s nominations and provide a short explanatory commentary.
  2. Deans should then submit their awarded nominations (form and CV in a single PDF file as well as commentary) electronically to the IAS/WUN Research Development Officers (), Ms Sam Barlow and Dr Robert Crowe, to arrive no later than 5pm on Friday 9 February 2018.
  1. Deans will inform applicants of the outcomes of their URF/IASRF/SRF nominations. Successful nominations will be reported to the University Research Committee on Thursday 8th March 2018 and will list these awards on their website.

Regulations

These fellowships are open to current members of staff (Pathway 1) and enable the Fellows appointed to dedicate their time to a specific research project for a period of 12 months for University Research Fellowships (URFs), and 6 months for IAS Research Fellowships (IASRFs). The awards (£10K for URFs; £5K for IASRFs) are paid to the Department/School to cover the cost of replacement teaching/assessment.

Proposals should consist of a statement by the candidate on the research they will undertake and the expected outputs from the Fellowship. Proposals must be accompanied by a Statement of Support from the Head of Department/School.
A summary CV (1 x A4 page) should also accompany the application. Fellows are required to produce a detailed report of their activity at the end of the year.

Responsibilities of the Department: The department agrees to release the Fellow from his or her teaching, assessment and clinical responsibilities during the Fellowship. However, it is expected that other on-going research commitments, such as research council grants and PhD students, must be continued.

Responsibilities of the Fellow: The Fellow will concentrate his or her activity on research, implementing the research plans set out in their proposal. Fellows are also required to submit a detailed end-of-year report to the IAS ().
