Sessional Lecturer Position (Unit 3)

New College seeks a sessional lecturer from January 1, 2018 –April 30, 2018 for the following course:

NEW303H1S – HYPOTHESES OF THE UNCONSCIOUS

NEW303H1S –Current discussions of the hypotheses, starting with Freud’s and Jung’s hypotheses, especially Jung’s collective unconscious; critical examination through retrospective analysis of the evolution and development of the concept in works from philosophy, psychology, poetry, ethnology, science and popular culture that anticipated, influenced or were influenced by the work of Freud and Jung, post-Freudians and post-Jungians.

Enrolment Estimate: 40 students

Estimated TA Support: None

Class Schedule: Wednesdays10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.; location TBA

Salary: $7,359.07 (Sessional Lecturer I) - $7,498.50 (Sessional Lecturer I Long Term) –

$7,823.85 (Sessional Lecturer II) - $8,185.35 (Sessional Lecturer III)

Please note thatshould rates stipulated in the collective agreement varyfrom rates stated in thisposting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shallprevail.

Qualifications

Completed graduate degree in an area relevant to the specific course. Familiarity with the course content is required. Expertise in applied analytical psychology and/or experience as a practicing analyst is an asset. Teaching experience required. Teaching experience at the university level preferred.

Note: Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows of the University of Toronto are covered by the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 collective agreement rather than the Unit 3 collective agreement, and should not apply for positions posted under the Unit 3 collective agreement.

Responsibilities
  • Planning and teaching lectures
  • Providing office hours for academic counseling of students
  • Marking and grading assignments

Final availability of the position is contingent upon enrolment and budgetary considerations.
