Computer Science Saturday (C.S.S.)

Winter 2014 C.S.S. Information Sheet

The University of Michigan-Dearborn Department of Computer and Information Science is proud to offer Computer Science Saturday (C.S.S.) to introduce boys in grades 6 – 12 to computing and technology skills, career exploration, and service activities with respect to computers and the Internet. Most parents know that their children love to play games on computers, but few know that there is a lot of science, math, and technology behind the development of computer games. Computing was the fastest growing job family in the United States for the year 2013 and computing professionals express the highest levels of job satisfaction among all college graduates.

During this one-day event, students will be divided into workshops to develop game design techniques. Computer programming skills and knowledge of algebra are helpful. Scouts must complete the requirements for their Cyber Chip prior to attending this event. This is also a great opportunity for Boy Scouts to earn the Programming merit badge. This event will take place on Saturday, January11th, 2014 from 10:00-3:30 pm.

This event is FREE and your child will learn about computer science and technology in a safe environment and be provided with lunch the day of this event. Please return the permission slip as soon as possible, as this event on November 9th is first come, first serve, with a maximum enrollment of 40 boys.
